Valve devices for internal combustion engines are known which comprise a housing (2) with at least one inlet (4, 6) and one outlet (8) formed therein, at least one passage opening (10, 12) via which the at least one inlet (4, 6) can be fluidically connected to the at least one outlet (8), at least one valve-closing member (18, 20) by means of which the passage opening (10, 12) can be controlled, a valve rod (22) which can be translationally moved by means of an actuator (56) and on which the at least one valve-closing member (18, 20) is arranged, a spring (32) that surrounds the valve rod (22) and is supported with its first end against the one valve-closing member (18) and with its opposite end against a stop element (20), and an element that substantially surrounds said spring (32). The functionality of these devices is often limited owing to high thermal loads and high sensitivity to particles of dirt. It is therefore suggested that said element should be substantially formed from two radially closed peripheral surfaces (46, 48) that are in mutual engagement, the first peripheral surface (46) lying against the at least one valve-closing member (18) and being able to be moved therewith, and the second lying against the stop element (20), said valve-closing member (18) being moveable relative to said stop element (20).

To achieve all-round vibration decoupling of the drive element, it is proposed that the housing (10) have a static receiving part (32) and a cover (38) fastened thereon, which cover bears axially against a stop (60) on the static receiving part (32), wherein the intermediate element (64) is arranged radially between the cover (38) and the drive element (12) and so as to be elastically deformed axially between the drive element (12) and the cover (38), such that, in the case of an exhaust-gas recirculation valve, the electric motor (12) is loaded axially against a drive-side bearing bracket (42), which is formed on the housing (10), by the spring force of an elastically deformed intermediate element (64) and is mounted in the cover (38) radially by means of the intermediate element (64).

Methods for calibrating a regulating valve (16), having a permanent magnet (20) which is moved with a regulating body (24) of the regulating valve (16), and having a contactless position sensor (14) which is arranged fixedly in a housing of the regulating valve (16) and in which a voltage is generated which is dependent on the magnetic field, acting thereon, of the permanent magnet (20), are known. In order to be able to regulate a gas flow by way of the regulating valve with relatively high accuracy and speed, it is proposed that, during the calibration, every voltage generated at the position sensor (14) by adjustment of the regulating body (24) of the regulating valve (16) is assigned a throughput of the regulating valve (16).
