The invention relates to a multilayer body comprising a support and a layer which is arranged on the support and comprises an electrically conductive material in a specific arrangement. The multilayer body comprises an information region and a background region (18) which are galvanically separated from each other. The invention relates to an optically variable element which comprises, at least in partial areas and embedded between two layers (1, 2), a boundary surface (3) which is optically active, said boundary surface (3) having a preshaped area that appears three-dimensional to the viewer's eye. In order to emphasize this preshaped area, the preshaped area is formed by a lens-shaped partial area of the boundary surface (3) and generates a magnifying, reducing or distorting effect. The application further relates to the use of such optically variable elements as forgery-proof security elements of valuable documents or for objects to be protected, especially as a part of the decorative layer arrangement of a transfer film or laminated film.
