Abstract:
A client device includes one or more processors configured to determine, from a manifest file, a plurality of types of segments included in a representation of media content, one or more functions provided by each of the types of segments, and positions of segments conforming to each of the types of segments in the representation, wherein at least one of the types of segments provides a point at which to begin retrieving data from the representation, determine, from the manifest file, a segment of the representation conforming to the type that provides the point at which to begin retrieving data from the representation, and retrieve the determined segment from the representation.
Abstract:
Content (e.g., multimedia streams, audio-video streams, video files, text, etc.) may be delivered to receiver devices over a broadcast channel and/or via a broadcast network via components (e.g., servers, receiver device, software applications, modules, processes, etc.) configured to communicate the content in a manner that reduces the amount of information communicated over the broadcast network, reduces the amount network bandwidth consumed by the communication, meets precise timing requirements for the individual objects that are communicated, and enables each receiver device to receive, decode, and render the content without consuming an excess amount of that receiver device's battery or processing resources.
Abstract:
A block-request streaming system provides for low-latency streaming of a media presentation. A plurality of media segments are generated according to an encoding protocol. Each media segment includes a random access point. A plurality of media fragments are encoded according to the same protocol. The media segments are aggregated from a plurality of media fragments.
Abstract:
Techniques are provided for receiving one or more representations of content wirelessly. The method may involve receiving a media presentation description (MPD) that includes parameters for reception of data segments for multiple representations of content via broadcast transmission and unicast transmission. The method may involve determining whether the broadcast transmission or the unicast transmission is appropriate for reception of the data segments, and selecting a given representation from among the multiple representations of the content based on a criteria of the mobile entity. The method may involve receiving the data segments for the given representation based at least in part on the parameters for the determined one of the broadcast transmission and the unicast transmission.
