The invention relates to a hand-held analysis device which is used to examine a sample, in particular a biological fluid, with respect to a medically significant component. Said hand-held analysis device comprises a housing (4) which is provided with a load opening (5) which is used to receive an inter-changeable cartridge (6) comprising a plurality of chambers (12) which can contain analytical consumption means (10), in particular test strips. Said hand-held analysis device also comprises, respectively, an opening (13,14) which is arranged on at least one front side of the cartridge (6) which can be closed by means of a sealing film (17), a receiving device (16) which is used to receive one of the analytical consumption means (10) from the cartridge (6), by means of which one of the consumption means (10) can be transported out of one of the chambers (12) of the cartridge (6). The analysis appliance comprises a sampling device for taking blood samples, and an analysis device. A delivery device is also provided for transferring the blood samples from the sampling device to the analysis device, wherein the operating parameters concerning sampling, transfer of the sample to the analysis device, and analysis of the sample, can be adapted to the respective user. The operating parameters can be adapted by automatic, spontaneous execution of an automatically determined number of test measurements.
