摘要： A method, apparatus and computer readable medium for managing recording medium defects and a defect managed recording medium. The recording medium includes a spare area in which a replacement area, which is a substitute for a defective area of the recording medium, is formed, and a temporary defect management area in which temporary management information that specifies the defective area and the corresponding replacement area is recorded. The method includes determining whether defect management of the recording medium has been previously successfully completed; scanning a portion of the recording medium purportedly containing no recorded data, as identified in a spare bit map (SBM), and verifying whether the portion contains no recorded data; and updating the SBM to reflect a recording state of the recording medium based on the verification of the portion of the recording medium. In this way, a write operation and restoration of data can be performed.

The optical information storage medium addresses the case where the nominal recording speed is not satisfied due to errors occurring during the manufacture of the storage medium. Thus, the defective disc proportion can be reduced, and loss of user data due to application of inaccurate recording layer information can be prevented.

The method includes (a) recording video data in a digital video format received from a camcorder in a plurality of clip files, (b) recording navigation data to navigate the clip files in a clip navigation file, (c) recording a program navigation file which represent at least one said clip files and at least a part of the corresponding clip navigation file, and (d) recording program information which represents at least one of the program navigation file, in a manager file. The video data in the format of digital video provided by the camcorder can be recorded on the information storage medium on which the video data can be randomly accessed, and the video data can be reproduced at a desired time.
