The playback device selects variation data according to the playback path information received from the server, and plays content. The server generates management data in which the playback path information notified to the playback device and the playback device identification information are associated with each other, and performs the source tracing of illegal copy, based on the variation data included in the illegally copied content.

According to the present invention, a data reproduction process and a disc manufacturing process are carried out on the basis of disc type information as disc-recorded data configuration information. A reproduction apparatus executing data reproduction from a disc reads disc type information recorded on the disc, grasps the disc-recorded data configuration on the basis of the disc type information, and executes the data readout and reproduction processes at a transfer rate according to the grasped recorded data configuration. The disc type information includes zone setting information indicating whether the disc is a single-zone disc composed of a single transfer rate zone or a plural-zone disc composed of a plurality of different transfer rate zones. The reproduction apparatus performs data readout and reproduction by the use of algorithms corresponding to the zones.
