摘要: An electroluminescent device and a method for producing the electroluminescent device are described. The device is formed from a layered structure comprising a hole-injection electrode layer for injecting holes into an electroluminescent material, an electron-injection electrode layer for injecting electrons into an electroluminescent material and a dielectric layer interposed between the hole-injecting and electron-injecting electrode layers. A cavity extends through at least the dielectric layer and one of the electrode layers and has an interior cavity surface comprising a hole-injection electrode region, an electron-injection electrode region and a dielectric region. An electroluminescent coating material is applied to the interior cavity surface in order to electrically contact the hole-injection and electron-injection electrode regions of the interior cavity surface.

摘要: The invention provides conjugated polymers that have good solubility and semiconductivity, and that display high photoluminescent and electroluminescent efficiency. Representative polymers containing monomer units having the general structure of formula (I):wherein: Ar and Ar are independently selected from the group consisting of monocyclic, bicyclic and polycyclic arylene, heteroarylene, substituted arylene and substituted heteroarylene groups; L is alkylene, alkenylene, substituted alkylene, substituted alkenylene, heteroalkylene, heteroalkenylene, substituted heteroalkylene, substituted heteroalkenylene, arylene, heteroarylene, substituted arylene, substituted heteroarylene, or a combination thereof; Q is a heteroatom; m is zero or 1; p is zero or 1, and q is zero or 1, with the proviso that when p is zero, then q is zero; x is zero or 1; Q and Q are independently selected from the group consisting of H, aryl, heteroaryl, substituted aryl, substituted heteroaryl, alkyl, substituted alkyl, heteroalkyl, and substituted heteroalkyl, and Q is selected from the group consisting of alkyl, substituted alkyl, heteroalkyl, and substituted heteroalkyl, with the proviso that when m is 1, Q and Q are other than H; and A is a negatively charged counterion. 摘要: The invention describes devices for performing thermodynamic work on a fluid, such as pumps (340), compressors and fans. The thermodynamic work may be used to provide a driving force for moving the fluid. Work performed on the fluid may be transmitted to other devices, such as a piston in a hydraulic actuation device. The devices may include one or more electroactive polymer transducers (341) with an electroactive polymer (341) that deflects in response to an application of an electric field. The electroactive polymer (341) may be used to perform thermodynamic work on the fluid. The devices may be designed to efficiently operate at a plurality of operating conditions, such as operating conditions that produce an acoustic signal above or below the human hearing range. The devices may be used in thermal control systems, such as refrigeration system, cooling systems and heating systems.

摘要: The present invention relates to electroactive polymers (152) that are pre-strained to improve conversion from electrical to mechanical energy. When a voltage is applied to electrodes (156) contacting a pre-strained polymer (152), the polymer (152) deflects. This deflection may be used to do mechanical work. The pre-strain improves the mechanical response of an electroactive polymer (152). The present invention also relates to actuators including an electroactive polymer and mechanical coupling to convert deflection of the polymer into mechanical work. The present invention further relates to compliant electrodes that conform to the shape of a polymer. The present invention provides methods for fabrication electromechanical devices including one or more electroactive polymers.

摘要: The invention describes rolled electroactive polymer devices. The invention also describes employment of these devices in a wide array of applications and methods for their fabrication. A rolled electroactive polymer device converts between electrical and mechanical energy; and includes a rolled electroactive polymer and at least two electrodes to provide the mechanical/electrical energy conversion. Prestrain is typically applied to the polymer. In one embodiment, a rolled electroactive polymer device employs a mechanism, such as a spring, that provides a force to prestrain the polymer. Since prestrain improves mechanical/electrical energy conversion for many electroactive polymers, the mechanism thus improves performance of the rolled electroactive polymer device.
