A vibration-damping material with excellent workability consists of two metal plates and a vibration-damping layer of a thermoplastic resin interposed between the two metal plates, in which the vibration-damping layer of a thermoplastic resin consists of a film as a middle layer and a polyolefin type resin (B) provided on both sides of the film as an upper and lower layer, the film as the middle layer being composed of (1) at least one resin (A) selected from the group consisting of polyolefin type resins and ionomer resins each having a modulus of elasticity in shear at 20°C of 3 x 10 9 to 1 x 10 7 dyne/cm 2 , a percentage of elongation at 20°C of 50% or above and a peak temperature of dissipation factor (tan 6) of -120°C to 80°C or (2) a resin mixture of the resin (A) and a synthetic rubber having a percentage of elongation at 20°C of 100% or above and a peak temperature of dissipation factor (tan δ) of -120°C to 50°C, and the polyolefin type resin (B) having a modulus of elasticity in shear at 20°C larger than that of the resin (A), a percentage of elongation at 20°C of 10% or above, a peak temperature of dissipation factor (tan δ) of -40°C to 180°C and a bonding strength toward the metal plates at 20°C and 180°C-peeling of 3 kg/cm or above.

The present invention provides an oxide sol hardened by the irradiation of actinic rays such as UV ray, electron ray, γ ray, X ray, etc., by heating or by using a catalyst. Said oxide sol comprises not less than 20% by weight of an oxide such as Si0 2 , Al 2 O 3 or the like in a dispersion medium containing at least 80% by mole of a reactive monomer such as acrylic acid, its esters, a-substituted acrylic acid esters, etc. These oxide sols have a good coating property and stable compatibility with organic solvents and are useful as modifiers for resins, binders for ceramics, thickening agents for cosmetics, coating agents for paper, antistatic agents for fabrics.

A linear polyethylene (100 wt parts) of low density of 0.870 to 0.915 g/cc and containing 15 to 50 wt% of components extractable with xylene at 25±1°C and a weight average molecular chain length of 1,000 - 9,000 Ångstroms is mixed with 50-400 parts of an organic or inorganic filler (e.g. calcium carbonate, barium sulfate or talc) and optionally to help dispersion of the filler 0.5-8 parts of a nonionic surfactant (e.g. a glycerine or sorbitan ester of a C12-22 fatty acid) and the mixture is molded into a film. The film is stretched either (a) uniaxially at 30-80°C at a stretch ratio of 1.2-8 in the mechanical direction or (b) biaxially at 40-100°C at a ratio of 1.1-8.0 in the mechanical direction and then at 70-100°C at a ratio of not above 6.0 transversely; optionally a heating setting treatment is then applied. The resultant film formed from the stretched composition is breathable to a high extent and has good strength, touch and appearance.

A laminated polypropylene film consisting of a crystalline polypropylene layer having laminated to at least one side thereof a copolymer layer, said copolymer being a random copolymer of propylene and an α-olefin having 4 or more carbon atoms or a random copolymer of propylene, an a-olefin having 4 or more carbon atoms and ethylene obtained by vapor phase polymerization in the substantial absence of a liquid medium and satisfying the following conditions (1) to (4):
(1) the content of an α-olefin having 4 or more carbon atoms in the copolymer is 8 to 25 mole%, (2) the content of ethylene in the copolymer is 3 mole% or less, (3) the content of a cold xylene-soluble portion in the copolymer is 15 to 60% by weight, and (4) the content of a boiling n-heptane-insoluble portion in the copolymer is 7% by weight or more. Said laminated film has an excellent low-temperature heat-sealability, an excellent transparency, a low blocking and a good scratch resistance.
