    摘要: A single-ended blur detection probe and method with a local sharpness map for analyzing a video image sequence uses two sets of edge filters, one for "fast edges" and the other for "slow edges." Each set of edge filters includes a horizontal bandpass filter, a vertical bandpass filter and a pair of orthogonal diagonal filters where the frequency response of the fast edge filters overlap the frequency response of the slow edge filters. The video image sequence is input to each filter of each set, and the output absolute values are combined with weighting factors to produce a slow edge weighted sum array and a fast edge weighted sum array. The respective weighted sum arrays are then decimated to produce a slow edge decimated array and a fast edge decimated array. The ratio of the maximum difference value between the decimated arrays and the maximum value from the fast edge decimated array, weighted by an appropriate factor, produces a localized maximum sharpness value, the log of which produces a dimensionless blur value.

    摘要: A method of measuring MPEG PCR jitter, frequency offset and drift rate uses a selectable, constant measurement bandwidth over non-uniform PCR arrival times and a variable PCR rate. The selectable, constant measurement bandwidth is fixed at a frequency that demarcates between jitter and wander. For each received PCR value a PCR interval is determined from the arrival time of the current PCR value and the arrival time of the preceding arrival time. The PCR values, intervals and the fixed bandwidth are input to a set of difference equations, derived either from a hybrid digital-analog PLL model where the frequency offset, drift rate and jitter are extracted from various points in the PLL feedback control system or from a linear filtering approximation to a least mean square (LMS) frequency offset and an LMS drift rate estimator of a simple second order time equation for the PCR values.

    摘要: A recursive noise reduction filter for video components reduces the noise bandwidth of a signal without degrading the signal spectrum. Demodulated chrominance or peak detected chrominance from a video signal output by a video system in response to a video test signal is input to the recursive noise reduction filter (24) which acts as a comb filter to suppress noise significantly at frequencies other than harmonics of the horizontal line rate. The signal is scaled by a first attenuator (30) having a scaling factor of (1-a), where (a) is less than one, and input to a summing circuit (32). Also input to the summing circuit is a delayed signal from a prior horizontal line scaled by the scaling factor (a). The output of the summing circuit is a filtered output signal. The signal is sampled only during horizontal lines that have the video test signal and is stored for subsequent accumulation with other horizontal lines also having the video test signal. The filter serves to add the vertically correlated part of the signal corresponding to the video test signal while averaging out the noise, thus improving the overall signal to noise ratio without degrading the signal spectrum and, hence, enhancing differential gain and phase measurements.

    摘要: A circuit for blanking the electron beam of a cathode-ray tube (CRT) when the beam is horizontally deflected off-screen. Blanking is accomplished by comparing a horizontal drive signal to first and second reference voltages corresponding to the respective drive signals deflecting the electron beam to opposite edges of the CRT screen. The beam blanking circuit includes a differential amplifier receiving a ramp signal at its summing junction input. The differential amplifier drives a transistor connected in a high gain configuration to generate the horizontal drive signal at its collector. The horizontal drive signal is fed back through a summing resistor to the sum injunction of the differential amplifier to assure linear operation. A first comparator connected across the vase-collector junction of the transistor to blank the electron beam when the horizontal drive signal approaches saturation near one power supply voltage. A second comparator is connected between the collector and ground to blank the electron beam when the horizontal drive signal approaches ground potential. The horizontal drive signal thus deflects the electron beam to opposite edges of the CRT screen when the drive voltage varies between ground and the power supply voltage.
