摘要: An ASIC (14, 14', 14") conditions two independent outputs (VINM, VINP) of a full Wheatstone piezoresistive bridge (12) in separate conditioning paths. Each path is provided with a bridge supply voltage (VHB1, VHB2) which can serve as a temperature related input signal to respective offset and gain compensation control circuits. The half bridge outputs are inputted to respective amplifiers (U1, U2) along with a selected percentage of the temperature dependent bridge supply voltage. The outputs of the amplifiers provide a signal proportional to respective half bridge output voltage. In one embodiment, the output of the amplifier (U2) in one conditioning path of one half bridge is connected to the input of an amplifier (U4) in the other conditioning path to provide a signal in the one path proportional to the Wheatstone bridge differential output voltage and in the other path a signal proportional to the Wheatstone half bridge output voltage. In another embodiment, the temperature dependent bridge supply voltage is multiplexed for a selected time upon power-up to an amplifier (U5) which normally receives an input from one of the bridge outputs.

摘要: An apparatus and method for detecting arc faults that have reduced susceptibility to nuisance tripping. The apparatus includes a current sensor, an input sense circuit, an arcing sense circuit, a power supply, a tripping (firing) circuit, a processor, and an electromechanical interface. The current sensor monitors a power input comprising an AC current, and provides high frequency components of the AC current to the input sense circuit. The input sense circuit filters and rectifies the AC signal, and provides the rectified signal to the arcing sense circuit. The arcing sense circuit provides a voltage level accumulated over a predetermined time period, and digital signals indicative of possible electrical arcing occurring during the sampling period, to the processor. The processor measures the voltage level, stores information relating to measured voltages and the digital signals, and processes the stored information using one or more algorithms, thereby determining whether the signals resulted from an arc fault or a nuisance load. In the event the signals resulted from an arc fault, the processor activates the firing circuit to trip the electromechanical interface, thereby interrupting the power output to the load.

摘要: A torque sensing device has a torque transmitting member with ends which are relatively rotatable around a member axis in response to an applied torque. Lost motion components rotating with the member ends have portions compactly extending along the member axis to engage the other component to limit such rotation after a predetermined degree of relative rotation has occurred. Two ferromagnetic elements rotating with the respective lost motion components have portions which extend along the member axis into interleaved relation with corresponding portions of the other element to form spaced pairs of respective element portions at each of two sides of a plane which extends transversely across the member axis. The elements respond to relative rotation of the torque transmitting member ends to proportionally increase the spacing in the pairs of element portions at one side of the noted plane and to decrease the spacing in the pairs of element portions at an opposite side of the plane. An exciting coil surrounding the elements induces magnetic leakage flux at the spacing of the pairs of element portions representative of the degree of spacing and a pair of sensing coils disposed around the elements are coupled to that magnetic leakage flux at respective sides of the noted plane. The sensing coils are differentially connected to provide an output signal corresponding to the applied torque.

摘要: A two wire circuit for indicating liquid level in an automobile utilizing an incandescent lamp to provide the alarm signal with the power required to energize the circuit being derived via the lamp whereby the lamp and the circuit are serially connected between the battery terminals. The alarm circuits are provided with an oscillator which performs the dual functions of providing the detection signal through the probe and the drive signal for the output transistor controlling the lamp. In a first embodiment, signal pulses from an oscillator provide signals to an output circuit as well as to the detection probe in the forth of pulses, those to the probe controlling a latch responsive to the output of Schmitt trigger. The Schmitt trigger output is determined by the status of the probe in response to the signal thereto from the oscillator. The delay and output circuits are simultaneously controlled by the same oscillator pulses and the output of the latch to control operation of a lamp. Sufficient current always travels through the lamp to provide power to the remainder of the circuit. In a second embodiment, the output circuit is an SCR which stays on once latched until power thereacross is removed. In addition, positive and negative feedback are provided from the output to the input of the operational amplifier, the positive feedback path being shunted to reference potential when the probe resistance is low to provide no output from the op amp and therefore maintain the SCR off. When the probe resistance increases, the positive feedback becomes dominant and causes an oscillation to appear from the op amp which turns on the SCR and therefore the lamp also turns on.

摘要: A capacitive transducer (10) which provides an output voltage in response to the application of a mechanical stimulus such as pressure or acceleration includes a signal conditioning integrated circuit (12) to which are connected a variable capacitor (C VAR ), a reference capacitor (C REF ), a linear correction capacitor (C LIN ) as well as an integrating capacitor (C INT ) and associated filtering components. The linear correction capacitor (C LIN ) is used to offset a fixed parasitic charge associated with the variable capacitor. Any net error charge appearing on a detect, common node (pin 4) between the variable capacitor and the reference capacitor is cancelled out by means of an analog feedback network (22). In a modified embodiment a thermal compensation network (40) allows for correction for thermal error at a second temperature without having any affect at a first temperature.

摘要: A solid state power controller for switching power on and off to an electrical load which also serves as a circuit protection device protecting the load and/or the wire connected between the load output terminal of the controller and ground from thermal damage due to current overload is shown. When a current overload exists the controller interrupts current to the load in a time inversely proportional to the square of the magnitude of the overload as shown in a trip time vs. load current curve (Fig 4). The controller also limits the load current to a selected maximum level by controlling the drain-source resistance of power MOSFETs (PS1-7) used for switching the power. A secondary interrupt is provided in the event that the junction temperature of the MOSFETs has risen a selected maximum level. A thermal memory feature is included for both interrupt signals. The controller is controlled by a single on/off input line (COMMAND) and provides both a status (STATUS) and trip (TRIP) output line to indicate its state. The status can be configured to monitor load voltage or load current flow as desired. The controller also can be configured to default to either an on or off state in the event the input line is disconnected. The controller is made so that it is externally programmable by providing selected external connection points (MPA, DTA, CLA1, CLA2) and choosing values of certain components (R cl1i , R cl2i , R ii , C ii , R mpi , C mpi ) contained within the sealed controller package which results in selected default condition.
