    摘要: Leave-in hair cosmetic compositions for enhancing hair volume, comprising non-spherical microparticles exhibiting a mean particle size of less than about 100νm in its longest dimension, a water-soluble or water-swellable polymer, and an aqueous carrier such that the combination of the polymer and the microparticles results in a film-forming network. Also disclosed are methods for enhancing hair volume, and more particularly for enhancing hair volume with leave-in aqueous cosmetic compositions which contain non-spherical microparticles of less than 100νm in its longest dimension, a water-soluble or water-swellable polymer and an aqueous carrier. The disclosed compositions provide improved hair volume, body, bounce, fullness, springiness, and texture in addition to providing good hair conditioning and styling benefits. Fluid-encapsulated, flexible microspheres which exhibit a mean particle size of less than about 300νm in diameter may also be included in the compositions.

    摘要: Disclosed are personal care compositions comprising from about 0.1 % to about 15 % by weight of a graft polymer and from about 0.1 % to about 99.9 % by weight of a liquid carrier, wherein the graft polymer is made in accordance with the following process steps: (a) reacting copolymerizable monomers to form an organic polymeric backbone having a weight average molecular weight of from about 15,000 grams/mole to about 200,000 grams/mole and a plurality of organic halide moieties covalantly bonded to and pendant from the polymeric backbone; and then (b) reacting copolymerizable monomers with the organic halide moeities of the polymeric backbone by atom transfer free radical polymerization in the presence of a catalytic amount of a Cu(I) salt or other transition metal species to form a plurality of polymeric side chains covalently bonded to and pendant from the polymeric backbone and having a weight average molecular weight of from about 500 grams/mole to about 200,000 grams/mole, wherein the polymeric back bone and the plurality of polymeric side chains form hydrophilic and hydrophobic graft polymers suitable for use in personal care compositions and having a weight average molecular weight of from about 16,000 grams/mole to about 10,000,000 grams/mole.

    摘要: The present invention relates to personal care compositions, especially hair care compositions, containing non-silicone, hydrophobic graft copolymers and a hydrophobic, volatile solvent for the copolymer, the solvent being selected from branched chain hydrocarbons, silicones and combinations thereof. This invention also relates to hair conditioners and hair styling products such as rinses, leave-on conditioners, and combination shampoo products useful for cleansing, styling and conditioning the hair. The graft polymers should satisfy the following three criteria: (1) the graft portion is covalently bonded to the polymeric backbone portion; (2) the molecular weight of the graft portion is at least about 500; and (3) when used in a composition, such as a personal care composition for application to the hair or skin, the polymeric backbone portion should permit the graft polymer to deposit on the intended surface, such as hair or skin. Preferred copolymers, when dried, phase-separate into a microphase which includes the graft portion and a microphase which includes the polymeric backbone portion.
