A carbon support according to an embodiment of the present invention has diffraction peaks of a (002) plane which are observed at least at 2Θ = 22.5° to 25°, 26°, and 26.5° in an X-ray diffraction spectrum with CuKα rays, has an intensity ratio I(P1)/I(P2) between a peak P1 at 2Θ = 26° and a peak P2 at 2Θ = 26.5° of not less than 1.4, and has a BET specific surface area of not less than 1000 m2/g.

The present invention provides a supported platinum catalyst having a high ratio of a diffraction peak intensity of a Pt (220) plane and having excellent oxidation resistance, by a simple production method without using a polymer. The supported platinum catalyst according to the present invention includes a carbon support and platinum fine particles supported on the carbon support, the platinum fine particles being such that a ratio of a diffraction peak intensity of a (220) plane with respect to a total of diffraction peak intensities of a (111) plane, a (200) plane, and the (220) plane by X-ray diffraction is not less than 0.128.

This output signal indicates whether the liquid level of the electrolytic bath in the anode chamber is higher than a reference level. When the liquid level of the electrolytic bath in the anode chamber is higher than the reference level, the control device increases, by a prescribe value, the frequency of a compressor driving voltage that is generated in an inverter circuit. This increases the rotational speed of a motor in the compressor, increases the discharge pressure of hydrogen gas being discharged from the compressor, and decreases the pressure inside the cathode chamber. As a result, the liquid level of the electrolytic bath in the cathode chamber rises, and the liquid level of the electrolytic bath in the anode chamber falls below the reference level.

The fluorine gas generation device includes an electrolyzer. An electrolytic bath is formed in the electrolyzer. A cathode is disposed in a cathode chamber, and an anode is disposed in an anode chamber. As a voltage is applied across the cathode and the anode, electrolysis of HF (hydrogen fluoride) takes place. In the electrolyzer, hydrogen gas is primarily generated from the cathode and fluorine gas is primarily generated from the anode. Two heating furnaces are provided for heating NaF pellets packed in HF adsorption columns. Each heating furnace has two HF adsorption columns disposed therein.
