The lifting cell (54) is expansible by the effect of the pressure of the com pressed air source of the vehicle for holding in the raised position the lifted axle (10) when its suspension cells (22) are load-free. The lifting assembly (28) comprises a pair of brackets (34,36), attached respectively to the body (20) of the raisable axle (10) and to a cross-member (18) of the chassis (15) adjacent to said body (20).
