Abstract:
A flavor composition comprising at least one transmembrane compound and/or at least one nucleotide derivative that modulates, increases and/or enhances the activity of an umami receptor is provided that can be used to enhance the umami taste and/or palatability of food products. In certain, non-limiting embodiments, the flavor composition comprises at least one nucleotide derivative and/or at least one transmembrane compound, optionally at least one nucleotide, optionally at least one first amino acid, optionally at least one second amino acid.
Abstract:
Provided herein is a process for increasing the dissolution rate of a sparingly water soluble flavor or taste modifying compound in water comprising: a. mixing the compound and a highly water soluble second compound in a water based solution to form a solution or dispersion of the compound; and b. drying the solution or dispersion to form a solution or solid dispersion of the compound wherein the compound has an increased dissolution rate in water as compared to the compound when dissolved in water alone.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a pet food or a pet supplement comprising a synergistically-effective antioxidant composition comprising an extract of Vitis vinifera and an extract of Vaccinium angustifolium, wherein said composition comprises at least 1% of catechins and/or epicatechins and at least 5 ppm of ferulic acid. The present invention further relates to the use of a synergistically-effective antioxidant composition as a medicament for pets, in particular in a method for treating a neurodegenerative disorder in a pet.
Abstract:
A fish feed comprising conventional feed ingredients and glucosinolates is described. The feed can be used for the prevention and/or treatment of a parasite infection and/or for the disruption of a parasite's fish (host) identification process.
Abstract:
Animal feed compositions having utility in reducing the incidence of and treating the symptoms of fescue toxicosis in mammals that consume endophyte-infected fescue are disclosed. Methods of reducing the incidence of fescue toxicosis and making animal feed compositions are further disclosed.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the field of reduction of methane emission in ruminants. Particularly, it relates to the a feed composition or a feed additive, and the use of said feed composition or a feed additive comprising at least one para nitroaniline derivative or a salt thereof and at least one organic molecule substituted at any position with at least one nitrooxy group for reducing the production of methane emanating from the digestive activities of ruminants, and/or to improve the ruminant performance.
