Abstract: A medical implant for a left atrial appendage may include a central member having an anchor at a distal end and a plurality of legs joined together at a joint coupled to the central member. The plurality of legs may be configured to expand from a delivery configuration to a deployed configuration. A medical implant may include a central shaft having an anchor at a distal end and a cup-shaped occluder fixed to a proximal end of the central shaft, the occluder being configured to expand from a delivery configuration to a deployed configuration and retard tissue ingrowth thereon. A medical implant system may include a delivery sheath, an implant having an expandable frame including a plurality of legs each having an anchor and a mesh having a plurality of openings therethrough attached to the frame, and a plurality of particles disposed within the delivery sheath.

Abstract: Implantable therapeutic devices and methods for endovascular placement of devices at a target site, such an opening at a neck of an aneurysm, are disclosed. Selected embodiments of the present technology have closures that at least partially occlude the neck of an aneurysm to stabilize embolic or coagulative treatment of the aneurysm. In one embodiment, for example, an aneurysm closure device comprises a closure structure and a supplemental stabilizer. The closure structure can have a curved portion configured to extend along a first vessel, such as a side branch of a bifurcated vessel that extends along a lateral axis. The supplemental stabilizer extends from the closure structure along a longitudinal axis transverse to the lateral axis of the first vessel. The supplemental stabilizer is configured to exert an outward force against a second vessel, such as a parent vessel, that extends transversely to the first vessel.

Abstract: Navigation and tissue capture systems and methods for navigation to and/or capture of selected tissue using the innate electrical activity of the selected tissue and/or other tissue are described. In the context of left atrial appendage closure, the systems and methods can be used to navigate to the left atrial appendage and capture/control the appendage while a closure instrument (suture, clip, ring) is placed over the appendage and tightened down or a closure method (ablation, cryogenic procedures, stapling, etc.) is performed to close the left atrial appendage. The use of innate electrical activity for navigating devices may be used in connection with other tissues and/or areas of the body.

Abstract: Novel wound occlusion devices (100') and methods for the acute treatment of massively bleeding external wounds are suggested. The novel devices which are insertable into wounds W are characterised by a base element (12'); a sealing element (3) and a release mechanism of the sealing element (3). The sealing element (3) comprises a frame element (31) and a layer element (32) and is transformable between a contracted and an expanded configuration (3') by the release mechanism. Abstract: The disclosure is directed to a heart occlusion device and a method for occluding an aperture defect in a heart. The heart occlusion device includes two separate wires 12, 14. Each wire forms geometric shapes that together form a distal plate and a proximal plate. The first plate is disposed in a first plane. The second plate is disposed in a second plane that is parallel to and remote from the first plane. The distal plate and the proximal plate are separated by a self-centering waist. The proximal plate is attached to a hub. A similar hub is optional on the distal plate. The plates further include coverings which form a sealant to occlude an aperture in a tissue. The wires forming the plates have a shape-memory capability such that they can be collapsed and distorted in a catheter during delivery but resume and maintain their intended shape after delivery.
