The first sensor is configured to measure a first parameter. The first parameter and the second parameter are related. The first sensor and the second sensor are in signal communication with a processor.

摘要: A surgical stapling apparatus (10) comprising: a) a handle assembly (12) including a movable handle (24), the movable handle being movable through an actuation stroke; b) an elongated body (14) extending distally from the handle assembly and defining a longitudinal axis, the elongated body having a distal end adapted to releasably engage both articulating and non-articulating disposable loading unit types (16); c) an actuation shaft (46) supported at least in part within the handle assembly and mounted for longitudinal movement in response to manipulation of the movable handle; d) an articulation mechanism (120) including an articulation lever (30) mounted adjacent the handle assembly and an articulation link (123), the articulation link having a proximal end operatively connected to the articulation lever and a distal end positioned adjacent the distal end of the elongated body; and e) a sensing mechanism (176) positioned within the elongated body and operatively associated with the articulation mechanism, the sensing mechanism including a sensing member for sensing the type of disposable loading unit engaged with the elongated body.

摘要: An electrosurgical instrument including a housing assembly having a first disposable treatment portion selectively attached thereto. The disposable treatment portion is adapted to connect to an electrosurgical generator that supplies energy to the electrosurgical instrument. A control circuit is included and disposed in electrical communication between the electrosurgical generator and the first disposable treatment portion. The control circuit is selectively actuatable to enable the flow of electrosurgical energy from the electrosurgical generator to the first disposable treatment portion. An indicator, coupled to the housing assembly or the first disposable treatment portion, is configured to indicate a parameter related to the use of the electrosurgical instrument. The control circuit is configured to prevent activation of the electrosurgical instrument when the parameter of the indicator indicates the useful life of the disposable treatment portion has expired.

摘要: An optimal tissue compression surgical device comprises a handle and a surgical end effector connected to the handle. The surgical end effector comprises an electrically controlled tissue-compression device and a mechanical binary-output electrical switch, wherein a force acting on the mechanical binary-output electrical switch is proportional to a compressing force directed upon the compressed tissue. The mechanical binary-output electrical switch has first and second electrical switching states, a biasing device retaining the switch in the first switching state with a bias force until a force imparted upon the switch overcomes the bias force to change the switch to the second switching state, and a switching-state-status output for providing information identifying the current switching state.

摘要: An optimal tissue compression surgical device comprises a handle and a surgical end effector connected to the handle.
