Abstract: A surgical instrument for treating the stomach tissue of a patient is disclosed. The surgical instrument comprises a handle comprising a display, a shaft extending from the handle, and an end effector extending from said shaft. The surgical system comprises a tissue treatment system configured to treat the stomach tissue along a path, an imaging system configured to capture a tissue image of the stomach tissue, and a controller configured to determine an edge of the stomach tissue, generate an image representing at least a portion of the edge of the stomach tissue, and display the image along with at least a portion of the tissue image on the display.

Abstract: A surgical instrument comprising a shaft, an end effector, and an articulation joint is disclosed. The end effector is rotatably connected to the shaft about the articulation joint, wherein the end effector is rotatable between a first orientation and a second orientation, wherein the shaft comprises a longitudinal axis and the end effector comprises a tissue gap, wherein the tissue gap faces the longitudinal axis when the end effector is in its first orientation, and wherein the tissue gap extends at an angle relative to the longitudinal axis when the end effector is in its second orientation. The surgical instrument further comprises an articulation drive system configured to articulate the end effector relative to the shaft and a dampener configured to prevent the end effector from being back-driven from its second orientation into its first orientation.

Abstract: A surgical instrument. Various embodiments of the surgical instrument include an end effector that has a moveable cutting implement. A main drive shaft assembly operably interfaces with the end effector for transmitting an actuation motion to the movable cutting implement therein. A gear drive train is connected to the main drive shaft assembly. The gear drive train is actuated by a motor that is configured to receive control signals from a robotic system. Various embodiments include a sensor arrangement that operably interfaces the end effector to communicate forces experienced by the end effector to the robotic system.

Abstract: A method of controlling motor velocity in a surgical instrument is disclosed. The surgical instrument includes a displacement member, a motor coupled to the displacement member, a control circuit coupled to the motor, a position sensor coupled to the control circuit, and a timer coupled to the control circuit. The method includes receiving a first position of a displacement member from a position sensor, starting a timer, advancing the displacement member to a second position by setting a motor velocity to a first velocity, receiving the second positon from the position sensor, stopping the timer when the displacement member reaches the second position, receiving elapsed time from the timer, wherein the elapsed time is the time taken by the displacement to move from the first position to the second positon, and controlling, by the control circuit, velocity of the motor based on the elapsed time.

Abstract: A motorized surgical instrument is disclosed. The surgical instrument includes a displacement member (1111), a motor (1120) coupled to the displacement member (1111), a control circuit coupled to the motor (1120), a position sensor (1112) coupled to the control circuit, and a timer circuit coupled to the control circuit. The timer circuit is configured to measure elapsed time and to receive, from the position sensor (1112), a position of the displacement member (1111) in a current zone during a set time interval, measure displacement of the displacement member (1111) at a set time at the end of the set time interval, wherein the measured displacement is defined as the distance traveled by the displacement member (1111) during the set time interval at a set command velocity for the current zone, and set a command velocity of the displacement member (1111) for a subsequent zone based on the measured displacement of the displacement member (1111) within the current zone.

Abstract: A motorized surgical instrument is provided. The surgical instrument includes a displacement member. A motor is coupled to the displacement member. A control circuit is coupled to the motor. A position sensor is coupled to the control circuit. A timer circuit is coupled to the control circuit to measure elapsed time. The control circuit is configured to receive the position of the displacement member from the position sensor, receive elapsed time from the timer circuit, and control velocity of the motor based on the position of the displacement member and the elapsed time. A method of controlling motor velocity of the surgical instrument also is disclosed.

Abstract: A motorized surgical instrument is disclosed. The surgical instrument includes a displacement member, a motor coupled to the displacement member, a display, and a control circuit coupled to the motor and the display. The control circuit is configured to measure distance traveled by the displacement member over a predetermined period of time, cause the display to present a selection menu indicia that is indicative of a velocity mode, receive a user input corresponding to the velocity mode, and set the motor velocity of the displacement member based on the measured distance traveled by the displacement member over the predetermined period of time and the user input.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an electric surgical stapler, including a handle the handle having a handle body, a driving motor and a control unit for controlling the driving motor to operate; a working head, including an anvil, a cartridge, a closing mechanism, a firing mechanism, a housing for accommodating the closing mechanism and the firing mechanism, a closing limit switch, and a closing height adjustment shift switch configured to transmit information of a closing height control shift to the control unit, wherein during closing, the control unit is configured to control the closing mechanism to move until the closing limit switch is triggered so that a closing distance between the anvil and the cartridge is at a preset closing height, and the control unit is further configured to control the closing mechanism to move after receiving information transmitted from the closing limit switch, so that the closing distance between the anvil and the cartridge is adjusted to be consistent with a preset closing distance corresponding to a current shift of the closing height adjustment shift switch. Since a certain distance is closed in advance, clearances in the transmission mechanism have been eliminated, and the adjustment of the closing height can be accurately implemented to achieve desired closing height.
