    摘要: An intraocular lens (10) includes an optic body (12), and a pair of diametrically oppositely disposed elongate support haptics (14) extending radially outwardly and circumferentially on the optic body (12) to define a distal end foot portion (22) supportingly engageable with eye tissue and terminating in a distal (24) end for the haptic. In a first position for the haptics, the distal end foot portions (22) are spaced from the optic body (12). One of the optic body (12) and support haptic (14) defines releasable constraining features for engaging one of the optic body (12) or the other of the pair of haptics (14) to constrain the haptic (14) in a second position in which the distal end foot portion (22) thereof is adjacent to the optic body (12). In the second configuration of the intraocular lens (10) it is possible to pass the lens (10) into an eye via a surgical incision only slightly larger than the size of the optic body.

    摘要: An exemplary ocular implant insertion system includes a case and a preloaded ocular implant insertion apparatus. The apparatus includes first and second movable structures that move the ocular implant in a predetermined sequence. The respective configurations of the case and the ocular implant insertion apparatus are such that the ocular implant insertion apparatus is not removable from the case when the ocular implant insertion apparatus is in the pre-use state and is removable after the first movable structure has moved at least a portion of the optical implant.

    摘要: An intraocular lens apparatus for replacement of the natural lens following the extraction of the natural lens in cataract surgery. One or more resilient haptics, having one or both ends affixed to the lens body, are provided with alternating regions of varying transverse cross-sectional area along their length, so as to combine a relatively narrow insertion profile with great flexibility and stability once implanted within the eye.

    摘要: A method for modifying a PMMA surface by the gamma-irradiation induced polymerization thereon of N-vinylpyrrolidone, 2-hydroxyethylmethacrylate or a mixture thereof while maintaining the following conditions:

    a) monomer concentration in the range of from about 0.5% to about 50%, by weight;
    b) total gamma dose in the range of from about 0.01 to less than about 0.50 Mrad;
    c) gamma dose rate in the range of from about 10 to about 2500 rads/minute; and
    d) maintaining the molecular weight of the polymer in solution in the range of from about 250,000 to about 5,000,000.

    The invention also relates to modifying polypropylene, polyvinylidene fluoride, polycarbonate and silicone surfaces according to a similar method as well as materials produced by the above methods which are useful as ocular implants.

    摘要: In an eye of a patient, ciliary processes 21 project from a ciliary body 20 located in a circumferential direction about a visual axis C, toward the visual axis C. A hook portion 4 is provided which is formed so as to extend from base portions 21a of the ciliary processes 21 along the outer surfaces of the ciliary processes 21 via anterior end portions 21b of the ciliary processes 21 to base portions 21c at the opposite side. A leg portion 3 extending from the hook portion 4 toward the visual axis C is connected to the hook portion 4, and a lens 2 to be mounted in the eye of the patient is supported by the leg portion 3. The lens 2 is held in the eye of the patient in a state where the hook portion 4 is hooked or fitted to the ciliary processes 21. Accordingly, an intraocularly-mounted object and an intraocularly-mounted object holding member that are allowed to move directly in conjunction with relaxation/contraction movement of ciliary muscle, are provided.
