Apertured polymeric films with enhanced fluid penetration characteristics, and absorbent products utilizing such fims as coverstock, are disclosed. The films have a multiplicity of small apertures and comprise two layers, an upper layer comprising at least 80 % by weight low density polyethylene and a lower layer comprising at least 80 % by weight ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer. Enhanced fluid penetration characteristics are obtained by the inclusion of a wetting agent in the lower, ethylene-vinyl acetate layer.
