The present invention is directed to a building panel having a laminate structure, the laminate structure including a topcoat layer comprising a first intumescent composition, a cellulosic veneer layer, an adhesive layer formed from an adhesive composition comprising a second intumescent composition, and a metallic substrate layer and wherein the cellulosic veneer layer is at least partially bonded to the metallic substrate by the adhesive layer. The resulting building panel exhibits superior flame retardancy resulting in a Class A fire rating, according to ASTM E-84.

The present invention relates to an aluminum composite panel containing an aerogel, the aluminum composite panel having improved adiabatic property, flame retardancy, and moldability by having an aerogel composite using a silica aerogel and a thermoplastic resin, and to a method for manufacturing the same. The present invention provides an aluminum composite panel containing an aerogel, by molding an aerogel composite from a mixture of 1-90 wt% of a silica aerogel and 10-99 wt% of a thermoplastic resin, and then attaching aluminum plates on an upper surface and a lower surface of the aerogel composite, respectively, while an adhesive resin is coated on the upper surface and the lower surface. The aluminum composite panel containing an aerogel, manufactured according to the present invention, has a lower hygroscopic property than the conventional aluminum composite panel, due to the silica aerogel, and thus has an effect of exhibiting excellent adiabatic property and flame retardancy, retains excellent moldability, is light, and has an effect of facilitating a construction work.

Disclosed are hydrophobic finish compositions and cementitious articles made with the hydrophobic finish compositions. In some embodiments, the article is a waterproof gypsum panel surface reinforced with inorganic mineral fibers that face a flexible and hydrophobic cementitious finish possessing beneficial waterproofing properties. The waterproof gypsum panels of the invention have many uses, such as, tilebacker board in wet or dry areas of buildings, exterior weather barrier panel for use as exterior sheathing, and roof cover board having water durability and low surface absorption. The flexible and hydrophobic cementitious finish can include fly ash, film-forming polymer, silane compound (e.g., alkyl alkoxysilane), an extended flow time retention agent including either one or more carboxylic acids, salts of carboxylic acids, or mixtures thereof, and other optional additives.

The present invention provides a film for attaching a nanostructured material to a surface of a substrate, comprising: (a) a removable support; (b) an attaching layer for attaching the film to the surface of a substrate; and (c) the material directly coupled to the support and the attaching layer. Methods for making the film, methods for attaching the material to the surface of a substrate are also provided. The present invention further provides a surface having a material attached thereto by means of the attaching layer. Using the methods disclosed herein, a material having a high specific surface area (SSA) and having particular proper ties (e.g. super-hydrophobicity) can be applied to a substrate including a fuel cell, a conductive electrode, a dye sensitized solar cell, a diffuse reflective mirror, eyewear, a window and a vehicle (e.g. car) windscreen, for example to provide a self-cleaning surface.
