Abstract: Injectable embolization particulates (e.g., particles, microstructures, beads) employed in embolization procedures, for facilitating blood vessel occlusion. Exemplary embolization particulates for occluding a blood vessel include a plurality of embolization beads, each bead having a plurality of outwardly protruding portions, wherein, upon a first one and a second one of the beads accumulating against a boundary of the blood vessel, protruding portions of the first bead are configured to intermesh with protruding portions of the second bead, so as to occlude the blood vessel. Also disclosed are compositions of embolization particulates including a plurality of shaped embolization beads, and methods for embolizing or occluding a blood vessel using embolization particulates or compositions thereof. Embolization particulates have particular shapes for facilitating blood vessel occlusion while preventing or diminishing back flow (reflux) of embolic material, and may be coated or impregnated with therapeutic agents or radioactive isotopes, for increasing desirable therapeutic effects.

Abstract: A deflecting guide catheter for use in minimally invasive medical procedures such as the treatment of mitral valve regurgitation by reshaping the mitral valve annulus using one or more plications of annular or adjacent tissue each fixed by a retainer is described. The catheter includes an elongated tubular portion having various durometers along its length and at least one puller wire attached to an anchor band near the distal end. The deflecting guide catheter is used to provide a means for guiding a plication device or other medical instrument into a desired position within the vasculature or heart chambers of a patient.

Abstract: An anti-reverse apparatus for a trocar and a trocar are provided. The anti-reverse apparatus of the present application includes a latch capable of stopping an end sealing piece from moving reversely, and a loose switch capable of relieving a stopping action exerted by the latch on the reverse movement of the end sealing piece. By pressing the loose switch down, limitation of the latch on the reverse movement of the end sealing piece can be relieved. When the end sealing piece is detachably mounted at a near end of a sleeve in a rotating manner, the latch can stop reverse movement resulting in loosening of the end sealing piece and prevent air leakage or prevent the end sealing piece from loosening from the near end of the sleeve. When the loose switch is pressed down, limitation of the latch on the reverse movement of the end sealing piece can be relieved, and the end sealing piece can be detached from the near end of the sleeve by means of the reverse movement. The trocar of the present application includes the anti-reverse apparatus of the present application, thus improving the reliability of the trocar.
