    摘要: A breathing air system provided in a single integrated unit for use in hazardous environments. The system has an air inlet for receiving air from an ambient air source, a compressor system which pressurizes the received air, an air purifier for removing pollutants from the compressed air, an air distribution system for supplying the compressed, purified air to an outlet, an emergency backup store of breathable compressed air and a safety control system with a plurality of sensors for monitoring safety critical parameters associated with operation of the breathing air system such that the emergency backup store of breathable compressed air is automatically connected to the outlet upon failure of the supply of compressed purified air and the compressor is automatically shut down when an abnormal operating condition occurs. The breathing air system is integrated into a single machine that is located within the hazardous environment where the breathing air is to be supplied. Accordingly, safety is improved because any fault in the air supply will occur locally on the machine and the emergency backup will be in operation as soon as a fault is detected.

    摘要: This invention provides a healthcare cum optimal illumination device. The inventive device includes at least one frame, at least one light source, and at least one layer of treated filter cover. The light source is disposed in the frame. The light source emits infrared radiation, visible light radiation, and ultraviolet radiation. The visible radiation is used for illumination, and the invisible infrared and ultraviolet radiation is harnessed to improve indoor air quality. The layer of the filter cover is treated with substances of air cleaning properties and encloses the frame. The treated filter cover has at least one opening where air in the frame heated by the infrared radiation flows out from the device and cooler ambient air surrounding the device is drawn through the filter cover into the frame replacing the heated air that has flown out of the device to form air circulation and to perform air purification.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for purifying air to deactivate toxic chemical and biological species such as Sarin, mustard gas, phosgene, cyanogen chloride, Anthrax spores, E. coli bacteria, Salmonella bacteria, Hepatitis virus, and Norwalk virus. The apparatus comprises a reaction chamber coupled to a counterflow heat exchanger. Incoming contaminated air is directed through a heating side of a counterflow heat exchanger to preheat it. The air is further heated to a temperature of at least 200 °C, which is sufficient to deactivate common biological toxic species. Optionally, the reaction chamber may include a catalyst on a surface area over which the heated air is directed, which enables a thermocatalytic reaction that is particularly effective in deactivating biological and chemical warfare agents, such as anthrax and Sarin. Portable embodiments of the invention are useful in both military and civilian air purifying applications, while fixed installation of the apparatus are useful in deactivating toxic species from the air in areas where food is prepared or stored, or in purifying air in the environment of a living space.

    摘要: A life support system is provided for users located within enclosed areas to supply them with fresh air from a location exterior of the enclosed area, and is particularly adapted for use in emergency circumstances such as when fire and smoke fill enclosed areas. The system can be used in buildings and in aircraft and can be adapted for use with the gasper outlets presently employed on aircraft. The system includes a face mask (8) connected to a gasper outlet (13) via hose (3). One way valves (10 and 16) direct fresh exterior air to the mask and one way valve (9) directs exhaled gases from the mask. A method for providing fresh exterior air to the enclosed area and the user includes conducting the air to an outlet for the exterior air which is located within the area, conducting the exterior air from the outlet to at least one breathing cavity of the user, and preventing the user from inhaling ambient atmosphere from within the enclosed area.
