The invention relates to a method for producing novel, partially crystalline polyether polyols with a functionality of ≥2 and an average molecular weight Mn of 500 to 100,000. The mole proportion of isotactic triads determining the crystallinity is > 28 %. The novel polyether polyols are produced by polymerising alkylene oxide in the presence of a bimetallic ν-oxoalkoxide modified with hydroxyl compounds.

Asymmetric hydroformylations of chiral olefins can be achieved by contacting, under hydroformylation conditions, an olefin containing a prochiral center with hydrogen and carbon monoxide in the presence of a catalyst comprising a complex of platinum II and N-(t-butoxycarbonyl)-(2S, 4S)-4-(diphenylphosphino)-2-[(diphenylphosphino)methyl] pyrrolidine and stannous chloride, and removing the resulting chiral aldehyde as it is formed. A preferred method of removing the resulting chiral aldehyde is through the use of a trapping agent such as triethyl orthoformate, trimethyl orthoformate, triethyl orthoacetate, trimethyl orthoacetate, acetone diethyl ketal and acetone dimethyl acetal used in the presence of a solid catalyst support such as cross-linked polystyrene.

The present application discloses methods for producing a hexadentate bimetallic complex. A method may comprise contacting an acyliminepyridine compound, a metal salt, and an amine to form a mixture; and recovering the hexadentate bimetallic complex from the mixture. A method may also comprise forming at least one imine bond in the presence of a metal salt, metal complex, or combinations thereof. The metal salt may be iron, cobalt, nickel, chromium, vanadium or mixtures thereof. The acyliminepyridine compound may be a mono-acyliminepyridine in instances where the amine is a diamine. In such instances, the mono-acyliminepyridine compound to diamine molar ratio may be in the range of about 2:1; and the mono-acyliminepyridine compound to metal salt molar ratio may be in the range of about 1:1. Methods for preparing an acyliminepyridine compound for use in preparation of a hexadentate bimetallic complex are also disclosed. Such methods may comprise contacting a di-acylpyridine with a first amine to form a first mixture, and recovering the acyliminepyridine compound from the first mixture.
