The drainage processing apparatus includes: a magnetic powder adding unit that adds magnetic powders to the drainage; a transfer unit that transfers the drainage; and an adsorbing unit that: is provided in the transfer unit; adsorbs bound matter that is contained in the drainage and contains at least a process-target substance and the magnetic powders; and retains the bound matter in the transfer unit. In one example, the adsorbing unit is able to re-release adsorbed bound matter into the transfer unit. In one example, the adsorbing unit has a permanent magnet provided to be directly insertable into and removable from within the transfer unit, and the permanent magnet adsorbs the bound matter by being inserted into the transfer unit, and re-releases the bound matter into the transfer unit by being removed from within the transfer unit.

The invention relates to analysis of photon up conversion luminescent inorganic lanthanide-doped nanomaterials and/or separation and/or purification of them from other materials such as biomolecules and/or chemicals used e.g. for bioconjugation in preparation of reagents based on up converting lanthanide nanoparticles for bioanalytical assays. The invention utilizes a high gradient magnetic separator (HGMS) and it can be applied from large submicron materials to small nanoparticles just nanometers or tens of nanometers in diameter. It is also scalable from small analytical scale to preparative scale.

A method of purifying flue gas desulfurization (FGD) gypsum. The method includes the steps of a) providing an aqueous slurry containing said FGD gypsum, b) passing the aqueous slurry to a magnetic separator, and c) contacting the FGD gypsum to be purified with a solution containing an acid and having pH below 5 in an acid washing step. Also, a purified FGD gypsum obtained by the inventive method and the use thereof as coating or filler pigment for paper or board.

The invention relates to a method for separating a substance which is dispersed or dissolved in a first liquid. Said method comprises the following steps: a) magnetisable particles are added to the first liquid so that the substance will be adsorbed on the particles, b) a rod consisting of a soft magnetic material is immersed in the first liquid, c) the rod is magnetised along its longitudinal axis by an excitation coil in such a way that the particles comprising the adsorbed substance are deposited on the rod, d) the rod is removed from the first liquid, together with the particles in a magnetised state which are deposited on the rod, e) the rod is immersed into a second liquid, and f) the excitation coil is put out of circuit and the particles deposited on the rod are washed off in the second liquid. The invention also relates to a magnet separator for carrying out the method.

The device comprises a bode 1 inside which corona-forming (3) and precipitation (4) electrodes with opposite polarities are established. Inside the body (1) deflection electrodes (%) are established as well, in front of corona-forming (3) electrodes a reflector for positively charged aeroions effected as electrode (6) and electrically coupled with said corona-forming (3) electrodes being established. The proposed device comprises one or several tapes made of porous-fiber material placed into non-homogeneous electric field.

The filter has an assembly which may be slid into or out of a canister housing for manufacture, repair, or replacement. The assembly is a stack of porous filter media separated by perforated metal plates. The metal plates may be arranged in sets, comprising positive and negative electrostatic plates followed by magnetic plates. Or, the metal plates may be arranged in a sequence tailored for the electrical conductivity of a given fluid. A pair of rod electrodes are threaded through holes in the various plates and porous filter media. One rod electrode is connected to all positive plates. The other rod electrode is connected to all negative electrostatic plates.

Die Reinigungswirkung von Filtern zur Abscheidung ferromagnetischer und/oder paramagnetischer Verunreinigungen aus dünnflüssigen Medien wird mit einfachen Mitteln dadurch verbessert, daß das Gehäuse (2) des Filters (1) zwischen einem oberen oder unteren Materialeinlauf (7 bzw. 8) und einem unteren oder oberen Materialauslauf (8 bzw. 7) mindestens ein Führungsrohr (9) mit einem für den Durchfluß des Mediums im Abstand von der Rohrwandung koaxial angeordneten Magnetstab (3) aufweist. Dies hat den Vorteil, daß das zu reinigende Medium nicht horizontal, sondern von oben nach unten oder von unten nach oben durch die Führungsrohre (9) und an den darin koaxial angeordneten Magnetstäben (3) entlang zum Materialauslauf (8 bzw. 7) geführt wird. Da in dem Ringraum zwischen den Magnetstäben (3) und den diese umgebenden Führungsrohren (9) das Magnetfeld über die Länge der Magnetstäbe (3) mehrfach zwischen einer höheren und einer geringeren Magnetfeldstärke wechselt, werden die in dem zu reinigenden Medium enthaltenen magnetisierbaren Verunreinigungen auch bei höheren Durchflußgeschwindigkeiten mit Sicherheit an den Magnetstäben festgehalten.
