A first caliber and a second caliber of a plurality of calibers are formed with projections configured to create splits vertically with respect to a width direction of the material to be rolled to form divided parts at end portions of the material to be rolled; a third caliber and subsequent calibers excluding a final caliber of the plurality of calibers are formed with projections configured to come into contact with the splits to sequentially bend the divided parts formed; and in at least one pass or more of rolling and shaping in the plurality of calibers, the rolling and shaping is performed with a rolling roll gap for a predetermined section at a rear end portion in a rolling longitudinal direction of the material to be rolled expanded as compared with a rolling roll gap for other than the predetermined section.

The invention relates to an X-H rolling method for parallel-flange steel sections (supports) with an H profile, in a tandem operation in a compact roll group, consisting of a first universal frame, an upsetting frame located downstream of the latter and a subsequent second universal frame. The rolls of the frames have surfaces that run at a slant or vertically in relation to the roll axes. According to the invention, if vertical rolls comprising rolling surfaces that are inclined away from one another at an angle of between 0 and 10° are used in the first universal frame and vertical rolls comprising cylindrical rolling surfaces are used in the second universal frame, the lateral surfaces of the horizontal rolls, which together with the rolling surfaces of the vertical rolls form the H pass, are inclined at an angle of approximately 0 to 0.5°, thus obtaining in the second universal frame a reduction of the material to be rolled that equates to approximately 0 - 100 % of the reduction attained in the first universal frame.

A method for producing a steel section by a rolling process including a rough rolling step, an intermediate rolling step and a finishing rolling step. The intermediate rolling step comprises water-cooling the flange portion of the rough-rolled steel section between rolling passes in the intermediate rolling step to cool the surface layer of the flange to a temperature not higher than 750°C, and rolling the flange portion during recuperation of the surface layer of the flange at least one time between the rolling passes with a total draft not less than 20% and at an average rolling temperature not higher than 950°C and, after the finishing rolling step the outer surface of the flange is cooled at a cooling rate ranging from 0.5 to 10°C/sec depending on the thickness of the flange. Also the carbon equivalent of the steel is controlled. The advantage is that steel sections of various contours and dimensions can be produced from minimized varieties of steel compositions.
