In the present invention, a part including the crack 12 at a surface 11 of the cast steel member is removed to form a recess 15, a first repair member 20 that is made of a metal (such as a pure nickel member) that is more flexible with respect to the cast steel member and that is weldable to the cast steel member is fit into the recess 15 and the first repair member 20 that was fit in is welded to the cast steel member by spot welding. Further, a strip-form second repair member 30 that is made of a metal that is more flexible with respect to the cast steel member and that is weldable to the cast steel member is welded in a manner intersecting a lengthwise direction of the crack 12 and spanning over the first repair member 20 that was fit in.
