A cutting unit (1), for cutting at least one continuous rod (2), has a rotary cutting drum (5) with at least one radial blade (7); a cutting block device (8) having at least one blade-guide bush (9), which is advanced a given distance together with and enclosing the continuous rod (2), and has a transverse through slit (10) engaged by the blade (7) of the cutting drum (5) during the cutting operation; a first electric motor (14) for rotating the cutting drum (5) about a central axis of rotation (6); and an actuating system (11) for actuating and imparting to the blade-guide bush (9) a given cyclic law of motion synchronized with rotation of the cutting drum (5), and which has a second electric motor (15) mechanically independent of the first electric motor (14), and a control device (16) for controlling the second electric motor (15) to synchronize the second electric motor (15) with the first electric motor (14).

A severing machine for cutting rolls or other elongated products, comprising a device for holding the elongated products during cut. The device for holding the elongated products during cut comprises at least one series of first adjustable abutments (31 A) and one series of second adjustable abutments (3 IB). The first adjustable abutments and the second adjustable abutments are arranged on opposite sides of a feeding path for the elongated products (L). The first adjustable abutments are arranged over one another and each of them can be adjusted independently of the others to adapt to the shape and/or dimension of the product. Furthermore, the first adjustable abutments can be blocked with respect to one another in a working position. Analogously, the second adjustable abutments (3 IB) are arranged over one another, each of them can be adjusted independently of the others, and the second abutments can be blocked with respect to one another in a working position.

There is provided a pipe cutting apparatus and, particularly, to an apparatus for cutting a water or sewer pipe and bevelling the ends thereof. The apparatus includes two lower supporting rollers and two upper supporting rollers for further rotatably supporting the pipe, as well as two guide wheels, arranged between the two lower rollers. Further the apparatus including a tool for cutting and bevelling the pipe.
