The device (10) comprises a container (12) for holding particulate material and defining an opening (18) for releasing the material. A closure device (20) is operable to open and close the opening (18). A levelling means (24) projects from the container (12) adjacent to the opening (18) and is operable to level the surface of the material dispensed. The levelling means (24) is shorter than the length of the opening (18) so that the opening extends beyond each end of the levelling means (24). In this way, an even layer of particulate material can be dispensed in one pass covering the bass of a mould cavity and opposed side walls of the cavity.

A method for forming a composite structure, using a mandrel that is later removed from the composite structure, involves production of a mandrel by depositing a particulate mixture, including an aggregate and a binder, into a mold and removing the mandrel from the mold. The mandrel may be treated while still in the mold by heating, curing with an agent, microwave energy, or by some combination thereof. Once finished, the mandrel can be used in manufacturing polymer and/or composite components. The mandrel can also be include materials that can be easily removed from the finished composite structure by water, shakeout, chemically dissolving, or by some combination thereof.

A preform which comprises two or more superposed layers of a reinforcing-fiber base made of at least reinforcing fiber yarns, has a resin material comprising a thermoplastic resin as the main component and disposed between the reinforcing-fiber base layers of the preform, and has through-holes extending through the reinforcing-fiber base layers in the thickness direction for the preform; and an FRP formed from this preform. The preform has improved impregnability in the thickness direction. A stabler-quality FRP excellent in both of various mechanical properties and matrix resin impregnation can hence be produced with high productivity.

This invention enables the outer surface as a whole of a molded resin product to be covered with a coating material with uniform and satisfactory tension. A split mold is provided, which is capable of forming a hollow space between the tapering portions at the circumferential and slidable parts of upper and lower mold members thereof. A molding material is compression molded by using this mold, and the mold members are separated before the molded product has been completely cured, so as to form a space between at least one surface of the molded product and the opposed surface of a mold member. A gas flow directed toward the outer circumference of the mold is formed in the mold so as to send out the extraneous matter to the outside thereof via the mentioned space, and a fluidized coating material is injected into this space between the molded product and the opposed mold surface. The mold is clamped again, and the resultant product is cured under pressure.

Scherkräften der zur Speicherplatte auszupressende Kunststoff mit einer die Preßtemperatur der Preßform erheblich überschreitenden Temperatur über eine Mittelöffnung einer Formhälfte kloßbildend in die zu einem Spalt geöffnete Preßform gespritzt wird, daß ferner das Auspressen des Materialkloßes (MK) durch Schließen der Preßform (FO, FU) bis auf eine Quetschspaltbreite (QB) in der Größenordnung mehrerer Zehntel der Stärke der fertigen Speicherplatte (SP) bereits vor Abschluß des Materialeinspritzvorgangs gestartet wird, und daß der zeitliche Ablauf des Schließvorgangs in erster Näherung nach einer Exponentialfunktion verläuft.

Es wird eine Pressvorrichtung (2) zur Herstellung eines Grünlings für eine Membran einer Ventileinrichtung aus einem Granulat (22) beschrieben. Das Granulat (22) ist auf einer ersten Formhälfte (30) anordenbar. Eine Distanz zwischen einer zweiten Formhälfte (32) und der ersten Formhälfte (30) mit dem zwischen den Formhälften (30, 32) angeordneten Granulat (22) ist während einer Rotation der zweiten Formhälfte (32) gegenüber der ersten Formhälfte (30) verringerbar. Die zweite Formhälfte ist gegen die erste Formhälfte (30) zur Herstellung des Grünlings pressbar.
