Abstract:
A system and method are provided for using magnetic elements to secure thin wires precisely in an injection molding process in a manner that matches a three-dimensional shape of the an injection molded product produced by the injection molding (overmolding) process. The thin wires are substantially immobilized in a manner that is designed to generally overcome the tendency of the thin wires, which have little mechanical strength, to normally deflect during an injection molding process by employing the magnetic forces produced by embedded magnets. Magnets are integrated into either the cavity or core of a mold structure and the thin wires are placed on those magnets to keep the wires in place during an injection molding process that allows the thin wires to be overmolded. A balance of the core and/or cavity of the mold will be formed of a non-magnetic material.
Abstract:
A fastener strip having magnetic powder not distributed through the entire volume thereof and contained in each discontinuous identification area thereof and a method and a device for manufacturing the fastener strip, the fastener strip comprising a substrate, a large number of hook pieces rising from the engagement surface of the substrate, and row magnetic bodies rising from the surface of the substrate and disposed along approximately the centerline and/or both lateral edge parts of the fastener strip, wherein the magnetic powder is contained in the magnetic body and the portion of the substrate under the magnetic body but not distributed over the entire substrate, whereby the fastener strip can be accurately and suckingly positioned in a metal mold at a specified position and also allowed to act so as to form a seal effective to prevent an engagement element from being contaminated.
Abstract:
A fabric mold liner includes a flexible fabric substrate and bounded regions of cured binder encapsulating fibers of the fabric substrate and carrying magnetically attractable particles. A liquid containing ferrous particles in suspension in a binder is deposited on the substrate in discrete, selected regions arranged to correspond to magnetic liner retention points in a mold cavity. The mold liner is used in molding a foam article. The liner is inserted into a mold cavity with the liner positioned such that the bounded regions carrying the binder align with magnetic liner retention points of internal surface. A foamable resin is introduced into the mold and is caused to expand to fill the mold cavity and cover an exposed surface of the liner, such that the liner becomes bonded to, and becomes a part of, a foam body formed by the resin.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for producing a shaped foam body, especially a foam padding unit (1) for a vehicle seat. Said unit comprises at least one adhesive closure (3) with adhesive elements (5) which are housed in a recess (11) of a foaming mould (9) used for producing said shaped foam body and are covered with a covering element inhibiting foaming. According to the invention, the covering element (15) is placed on the side opposite to the adhesive elements (5), so as to extend from the recess (11) over a predetermined width, and is maintained by means of a holding device (17) while being removably held against the parts of the foaming mould (9) which surround the recess (11).
Abstract:
The connected fastening members of the present invention comprises a plurality of mold-in fastening members (21-25) each having a substrate and a number of engaging elements (28, 29) formed on a front surface of the substrate. The mold-in fastening members (21-25) are connected with each other by a flexible connecting means (26, 27) that is disposed on the back surface thereof. Using the connected fastening members, a plurality of the fastening members can be easily fit to a recessed portion of a mold in a single operation, resulting in improved working efficiency.
