摘要: To operate a printing apparatus (1) with small power, the printing apparatus for printing an image on a print medium (P) using power of an electric storage (106) charged by power input from an external power supply performs the following control. An operation sequence for printing on the print medium (P) is divided into a plurality of sequences. Each of the sequences is executed by discharging power charged in the electric storage (106). Next, power is charged in the electric storage (106) during a standby time of the operation sequence after execution of one sequence ends. An electric storage amount charged in the electric storage is compared with a predetermined threshold. Then, control is performed to execute the next sequence in a case where the electric storage amount becomes larger than the predetermined threshold.

摘要: The invention provides a number of improvements useful in printers which may be of the fixed, portable or hand-held types. In one aspect, the printer, which comprises a housing (203), a printing unit (27), means for feeding to said printing unit a substrate (11) onto which indicia are to be printed, means for feeding a thermal transfer ribbon (14) to said printing unit, and means for providing electrical power to operate the printer, is characterised by means permitting independent movement of said substrate (11) and said thermal transfer ribbon (14) within said printing unit. In another aspect, the printer includes means for supplying power to operate the printer, for example dynamo (20) driven by a manual trigger (200). In a further aspect, the means for supplying power comprises a piezoelectric motor (301, 302). In a further aspect, the printer is intended for printing bar codes, and comprises a housing; a thermographic print head; means for supplying a substrate to said print head, and a power supply for said thermographic print head, characterised in that the printer is arranged to apply substantially constant and continuous power to heat the elements of the thermographic print head during a bar code printing operation.

摘要: A printing apparatus that has a plurality of functions including a printing function of forming an image on a medium and is capable of executing printing with resolution of 300 dpi or more includes a plurality of operating units including a printing unit that forms an image on a medium; and a pow0065r supply unit that supplies power to the plurality of operating units. The power supply unit includes a substrate, an input terminal that receives an alternating voltage from a power cable electrically connected to an alternating power supply, a smoothing capacitor that smooths the alternating voltage input from the input terminal, a thermistor that detects a temperature, and a comparator that compares a signal output from the thermistor with a standard signal and outputs a notification signal. The input terminal, the smoothing capacitor, the thermistor, and the comparator are mounted on the substrate. The supply of power from the power supply unit is stopped based on the state of the notification signal. A gap between the input terminal and the thermistor is longer than a gap between the input terminal and the smoothing capacitor.

摘要: Print data is generated for being printed by an ink-jet printing apparatus, which has a first mode for high-speed printing and a second mode for high-quality printing, for performing multiple-pass printing by an ink-jet printhead provided with orifices for discharging ink droplets of large volume and orifices for discharging ink droplets of small volume. When the print data is generated, a user is allowed to select whether specified image data should be printed in the first or second mode (S1). When image data is converted to print data in accordance with the mode selected, the number of ink droplets of the small volume, which are used to print an area of high density or high saturation in regard to a prescribed color in the first mode (S2), is set to be less than the number of ink droplets of the small volume used in printing this area in the second mode (S3).
