The writing implement 1 may thus be used both as a conventional writing implement and as an input stylus, with the change of function being effected automatically when the writing implement is brought into proximity with the input screen of the electronic device.

The sensor may directly read the image or colour on the card or read invisible coded tags.

Un style de mesure de forces sur trois axes comprend un boîtier et une cartouche, ainsi qu'une interface entre le boîtier et la cartouche, cette interface comprenant un ensemble de feuilles sensibles à la pression, composées de préférence de films en Mylar sensibles à la pression et de résistance variable, qui détectent la force entre la cartouche et le boîtier. La cartouche et le boîtier forment un angle oblique par rapport à l'axe du style, de manière à pouvoir détecter les forces dans trois dimensions. Dans une forme d'exécution spécifique, la cartouche forme une section coniqu correspondant à une section conique complémentaire du boîtier. Des membranes composées dudit matériau sensible aux forces sont disposées le long de trois doigts à partir d'un sommet de la section conique. La cartouche est préchargée contre la section conique par un ressort situé entre le boîtier et la cartouche. Die Überführung der Tinte vom großvolumigen Tintenraum zum sekundären Vorratsraum erfolgt sensorgesteuert in Abhängigkeit von dem im sekundären Tintenraum vorhandenen Tintenvolumen. Um das Nachladen der Tinte zu vereinfachen und mit geringstem elektrischen Energieaufwand zu bewirken, verwendet die Erfindung als Nachladeventil eine Schlauchpumpe, die rotierend mit einem Elektromotor angetrieben wird und auch den Förderdruck erzeugen kann, der benötigt wird, um die Tinte zum sekundären Tintenraum zu fördern.

The tip (21) is detachably mounted on the movable end of a piezoelectric tube (26), which has an opposite end (27) fixed to a mounting in the casing (12), so that the tube is mounted in cantilever fashion. The tube (26) has inner and outer tubular electrodes between which an electric signal is generated according to the pressure on the tip during pen use. A second piezoelectric tube (24), also mounted in cantilever fashion so as to have a movable end (25) and a fixed end (23), is located behind the tip and has a different arrangement of five electrodes for providing x, y signals according to the transverse accelerations of the pen during use. The pressure and accelerometer signals are electrically processed by electronic circuitry (22) before leaving the pen on cable (8).
