According to the invention, the fastening element (52) is provided with latching means (62) for the releasable latching within the hub hole or centre hole (36) and with a thread (70) which is coaxial with respect to the axis of rotation (34) of the wheel (12), while the inner side of the cover element (50) opposite the visible or outer side (18) of the wheel (12) is provided with a thread (86) which is complementary to the thread (70) of the fastening element (52).

The trouser tear strength of the protection film for a wheel is 3 N or greater in the machine direction (MD). The adhesive strength (adherend: a panel with an acrylic clear coating ,measured after 48 hours under conditions of 23°C and 50% RH) of the protection film for a wheel is 4.9 N/25 mm or greater at a tension rate of 0.3 m/min and 19.6 N/25 mm or less at a tension rate of 30 m/min.

The diameter of the wheel -protecting film can be 80% or more of the diameter of the wheel that is to be protected.
