There is provided a vehicle control apparatus capable of reducing consumption energy of an actuator with respect to a vehicle in which a camber angle of a wheel is adjustable by driving force of the actuator. A carrier member (41) holding the wheel is connected to a vehicle body to be movable vertically by an upper arm (42) and a lower arm (43), and one side of the upper arm (42) is connected to a position (an axis (02)) which is eccentric from an axis (01) of a wheel member (93a). With a suspension stroke, when the axis (01) is not positioned on a straight line connecting the axis (01) and an axis (03), compensation is performed correspondingly by rotating the wheel member (93a). As a result, since the camber angle of the wheel can be easily kept by mechanical friction force, driving force of a motor required to keep the camber angle of the wheel at a predetermined angle is smaller or cancelled to reduce the consumption energy.

Disclosed is a camber control device wherein the drive system can be reduced in size and the vehicle reduced in size and the vehicle cost lowered. There are provided: a vehicle body; a plurality of vehicle wheels; an actuator for applying or cancelling the application of a camber angle to a vehicle wheel; first actuator drive processing means for applying a camber angle to a prescribed vehicle wheel; and second actuator drive processing means for cancelling camber angle application to a prescribed vehicle wheel. The actuation speed of the actuator using the first actuator drive processing means is made higher than the actuation speed of the actuator using the second actuator drive processing means. When conditions for applying a camber angle are established, the speed of actuation of the actuator is raised, so a camber angle can be applied rapidly to this prescribed vehicle wheel, thereby making it possible to improve the stability of the vehicle.

A vehicle control device which can at least provide compatibility between a high grip performance and fuel efficiency or compatibility between quietness and fuel efficiency is provided. When a camber angle of a wheel 2 is adjusted to a negative camber, ground contact in a first tread 21 is increased and ground contact in a second tread 22 is decreased. Accordingly, the high grip performance or the quietness is provided. On the other hand, when the camber angle of the wheel 2 is adjusted to a positive camber, the ground contact in the first tread 21 is decreased and the ground contact in the second tread 22 is increased. Accordingly, a rolling resistance becomes low, and fuel saving is achieved. In this manner, by adjusting the camber angle of the wheel 2, the compatibility can be provided between conflicting performances of the high grip performance or the quietness and the fuel saving.
