In the event of collision of a vehicle (100), a control device (300) for a power converting apparatus (200) in the vehicle (100) is supplied with a power source voltage for operations thereof, using electric power resulting from residual charges accumulated in smoothing capacitors (C1, C2) provided in the power converting apparatus (200). With such a configuration, even if a power source voltage for the control device (300) is not supplied from outside the power converting apparatus (200) due to disconnection of a line, the residual charges accumulated in the smoothing capacitor (C1, C2) provided in the power converting apparatus (200) can be discharged.
