    摘要: A stacker system (10) for stacking mailpieces (60, 62, 64) received from an output section of mail processing equipment, the stacker system (10) comprising:
    an in-feed transport section (15) for receiving the mailpieces (60, 62, 64) from the output section of the mail processing equipment;
    a stacker module (25) configured to receive the plurality of mailpieces(60, 62, 64), by their leading edges, in an on-edge orientation and stack the mailpieces (60, 62, 64) to form a mailpiece tray bundle (45, 48);
    a conveyor module (30) including at least one conveyor drive belt (54) and a wear plate (56) having a edge (59, 106), the wear plate (56) configured to receive the mailpiece tray bundle (45, 48) driven by the conveyor drive belt (54), wherein trailing edges (83) of the mailpieces of the mailpiece tray bundle are justified at the edge (59, 106) of the wear plate (56); and
    a roller conveyor (29) positioned below the edge of wear plate (56) and parallel with the conveyor module (30), the roller conveyor (29) configured to receive the mailpiece tray bundle (45, 48) over the edge (59, 106) of the wear plate (56) and into a mail tray (34) positioned on the roller conveyor (29),
    wherein the edge (59, 106) of the wear plate (56) overhangs the roller conveyor (29) such that the mail tray bundle (45, 48) can be slidably moved across an upper surface of the edge (59, 106) without damaging the mailpieces.

    摘要: A job offset apparatus to separate into multiple stacks the output from a copier, printer or the like, includes a platform (12) upon which a plurality of offset assemblies are rotatably mounted, each offset assembly including a skew roller (16) which turns about an axis that, when the offset assemblies are rotated, is not parallel to the axis about which a drive roller (22) associated with the skew roller turns. A gear (70) or rack-and-pinion (80,84) offset actuation system enables the offset assemblies to rotate repeatedly back and forth between predetermined positions, so that as media (52) encounters the skew rollers it is directed against a reference edge (56) and into an output stack associated with the offset assembly position.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a signature stacking apparatus for use in stacking signatures having one edge which is thicker than other edges of the signatures. The relatively thick edges of the signatures are compensated for by compressing the relatively thick edges to flatten the signatures and offsetting the relatively thick edges in successive layers in a stack of signatures. The signature stacking apparatus includes a platform (60) which receives the signatures (16) in an initial spatial orientation. The platform Is rotated about a vertical axis to offset a first group of signatures on the platform from the initial spatial orientation. Each group of signatures on the platform is compressed before the succeeding group of signatures is deposited on the platform. Thus, once a group of signatures has been deposited on the platform, a retractable apparatus (56) is extended over the platform. The platform is then raised to press the signatures (16) on the platform against the retractable apparatus which is extending over the platform.

    摘要: The production of offset stacks of business forms is effected in a continuous (i.e., without interruption) manner until a vertical stacker (13) into which the forms (39) are fed is full. Between a detacher (11) and the stacker (13), the forms are automatically and continuously directed either to the left or the right from a common center line to offset the forms into different groups with at least one form in each group. This offsetting action may be accomplished by a pair of angled conveyor belts with steel balls movable into and out of association with the conveyor belts by solenoids, and/or by two sets of diverter wheels which are also angled and which are moved up out of engagement with the forms or down into engagement with them.

    摘要: A compact, lightweight and inexpensive copy sheet rotator includes a freely rotatable carousel (10) comprising a flat disc (12) and several, e.g. four quadrant, vanes (14, 16, 18, 20) extending from the disc (12). The carousel (10) is used in combination with and positioned in-line with a sheet transport such as a ball-on-belt registration mechanism (30) and an edge guide (25) for registering the sheets once they have been rotated. A copy sheet entering the carousel engages one of the vanes on the disc and its momentum causes the carousel to rotate thereby changing the orientation of the sheet within its plane of transport. A deflector (27) may be positioned over a portion of the carousel in order to enhance the guiding of copy sheets into the carousel by reducing the inertia of the disc after each copy is rotated and indexes each quadrant through the application of drag on the fins. A slider (42) may be provided which can be moved over the carousel to flatten the vanes against the disk so that copy sheets may pass straight through the rotator without being rotated
