    摘要: A drawing apparatus 1 has a drawing furnace 11 for heating and drawing an optical fiber preform 2, and a carbon heater 13 is disposed in this drawing furnace 11. The carbon heater 13 has a heating portion the length of which in a drawing direction is set to not less than 280 mm. The carbon heater 13 heats the preform so that a maximum temperature on the surface of the optical fiber preform 2 in the drawing furnace 11 becomes below 1800°C. The optical fiber preform 2 is drawn in a state in which the temperature of the muffle tube 12 of the drawing furnace 11 is kept below 1800°C, so that atomic arrangement in the optical fiber preform 2 becomes relatively aligned in a state of reduced randomness of atomic arrangement. This permits the optical fiber 3 to be drawn as reflecting the reduced randomness state of atomic arrangement, whereby the optical fiber 3 can be obtained with reduced Rayleigh scattering intensity and lowered transmission loss.

    摘要: When drawing of a GRIN lens from a preform is started, wastage of the preform is reduced and the amount of time taken from the start of elongation of the preform to the start of winding is reduced. A preform, to a lower end of which a weight formed of silica is fused, is set in a heating furnace, and drawing of the preform is started by heating a fused portion where the preform and the weight are fused to each other. This can reduce wastage of the preform. Since an elongation speed of the preform is increased by the weight of the weight, the amount of time taken from the start of the elongation of the preform to the start of winding can be decreased.

    摘要: A fiber drawing device (1) has a drawing furnace (11) provided with a carbon heater (13), for heat-drawing an optical fiber preform (2). The carbon heater (13) has a heating portion at least 280 mm in length in a drawing direction, and emits heat so that a maximum temperature on the surface of the optical fiber preform (2) in the furnace (11) is lower than 1800 DEG C. When the preform (2) is drawn with the temperature of a furnace tube (12) of the furnace (11) kept below 1800 DEG C, an atomic arrangement in the preform (2) is comparatively adjusted and is kept minimized in disorderedness. Whereby, it is possible to provide the optical fiber (3) lowered in Rayleigh scattering intensity and in transmission loss, reflecting a lowered atomic arrangement disorderedness in the drawn optical fiber (3).

    摘要: A method and apparatus for the pregobbing of an optical fiber preform to provide pre-optimized tip taper and system for drawing optical fiber therefrom. The downtime of an optical fiber drawing apparatus can be considerably shortened, by providing preforms that have a pre-optimized tip shape. Pre-optimized tips are provided which are melted off at the tip by an induction heater of a heating furnace. Preferably, the pregobbing furnace has substantially the same temperature profile as the draw furnace. Therefore, because the tip of the preform is optimized and unusable glass has been removed, throughput of the draw apparatus is advantageously increased. Moreover, the shape of the tip of the preform is optimized in that it has been exposed to the same temperature profile as it would have seen had the draw tip been formed in the draw furnace.
