摘要:
The present invention provides a biocompatible prepolymer comprising hydrophilic and hydrophobic segments, wherein the hydrophobic segments have at least one ethylenically unsaturated functional group and at least 5% of the segments have two or more ethylenically unsaturated functional groups and water. The invention further provides a biocompatible prepolymer composition comprising hydrophilic and hydrophobic prepolymers, wherein at least one of the hydrophobic prepolymers has at least one ethylenically unsaturated functional group and at least 5% of the prepolymers have two or more ethylenically unsaturated functional groups and water. The invention further provides use of the prepolymer or prepolymer compositions of the invention in biomedical applications such as tissue engineering, as bone substitutes or scaffolds, and in wound treatment.

This invention provides a method to effectively incorporate inorganic fluorescent substance or inorganic contrast medium into latex polymer particles which are used for diagnostic test or the like, and also provides thus produced fluorescent substance-containing latex polymer particles which show decreased non-specific adsorption of protein or the like. Said latex polymer particles are produced by making latex-forming monomer, macromer which has at least a hydrophilic polymer segment and an inorganic fluorescent substance or an inorganic contrast medium co-existent simultaneously in an aqueous medium, and subjecting them to a polymerization reaction.

The present invention relates to biomedical devices, in particular ocular devices, comprising:
a bulk material resulting from the co-polymerization of funtionalized perfluoroalkylpolyether (PFPE) macromonomers and zwitterionic substituted ethylenic units a surface activated with a glycoprotein or collagen said surface being coated with a functionalized polyethylene glycol (PEG). The coating allows for adhering or crosslinking to tissues, so that said devices may be used, e.g., as ready-to-use corneal onlays in ophthalmic surgery.

A block copolymer which comprises any of various polymers and a polymer formed by radical living polymerization or cationic living polymerization and can be easily produced without the need of the difficult optimization of polymerization conditions, etc. The block copolymer is produced by adding a polymer (I) having an alkenyl group to a radical living polymerization system or cationic living polymerization system.

The invention relates to methods of producing aqueous radiation-hardened paints from water-incompatible radiation-hardened initial paints (A) containing the following: (a) 40-100 wt.% at least one oligomeric and/or polymeric water-incompatible binder with at least two ethylenically unsaturated double bonds per molecule; (b) 0-40 wt.% fillers and/or pigments; (c) 0-6 wt.% photoinitiators; and (d) 0-20 wt.% further auxiliary agents and/or additives. The proposed methods are characterised in that they involve the following consecutive process steps: 1) the water-incompatible initial paint (A) is mixed with a quantity of a di- or polyamine (B) with at least one primary and at least one tertiary amino group equivalent to 0.2-5 wt.% of the quantity of (A); 2) the amino groups of component (B) are neutralised with an acid; and 3) the water-soluble paint produced in stages 1) and 2) is converted to the aqueous phase and the application viscosity is set to the required level by adding water.

The invention concerns cross-linked polymers which are the polymerization products of a polymerizable mixture containing the following components: a) a macromer of formula (C) in which Macro is an m-valent macromer group from which m of the Rx-H groups have been removed, the Rx groups are, independently of each other, a bond, -O-, NRN- or -S-, RN being hydrogen or lower alkyl, PI* is a bivalent photo-initiator group, Raa is the part of the photo-initiator which forms the less reactive radical when the photo-initiator splits up, and m is a whole number from 1 to 100; b) a copolymerizable vinyl monomer and c) a copolymerizable cross-linking agent. These polymers are particularly suitable for use in the production of moulded articles such as contact lenses.
