    摘要: The invention provides a novel coating composition which includes: (a) a polyester-based resin component, (b) an epoxy component, (c) a cross-linker component, (d) a catalyst component, and (e) a diluent component. The polyester-based resin component includes at least one phosphatized polyester resin; and the epoxy component includes at least one phosphatized epoxy resin. These coating compositions are particularly suitable as primers, and especially as primers for use used in conjunction with coating composition which include fluorocarbon polymers. Also provided is a method of providing a substrate with a multilayer coating system. This method includes: (a) applying at least one layer of the aforementioned novel primer onto a substrate; and (b) applying at least one layer of a second coating composition over the primed substrate of step (a). When this method employs the use of a second coating composition which includes fluorocarbon polymers, the result is multi-layered coated substrate which, while having excellent weatherability properties, also has excellent formability properties.

    摘要: The invention provides a novel coating composition which includes: (a) a polyester-based resin component, (b) an epoxy component, (c) a cross-linker component, (d) a catalyst component, and (e) a diluent component.     摘要: A magnetic coating formulation is composed principally of magnetic particles and a binder. At least a portion of the binder is a polyurethane resin newly synthesized from a reactant mixture of specific phosphorus compound, epoxy compound, isocyanate compound and polyfunctional hydroxy compounds. The reactant mixture may optionally contain a chain extender. The new polyurethane resin contains one phosphoric acid group or one residual group derived from phosphoric acid per 3,000-200,000 number average molecular weight of the polyurethane resin, and has a number average molecular weight of 4,000-150,000. A magnetic recording medium with a magnetic coating layer formed from the magnetic coating formulation is also disclosed. The magnetic coating layer features not only excellent dispersion of magnetic particles, in other words, excellent magnetic characteristics but also superb durability.

    摘要: There is provided an urethane modified epoxy resin either obtained by reaction of 100 weight portions of a preliminary condensate [A] produced by reaction of an epoxy resin and an acid of a phosphorus compound or its salt or ester and 5 to 60 weight portions of an isocyanate group-terminated urethane prepolymer [B] produced by reaction of a hydroxy compound and an organic polyisocyanate compound, or obtained by preparing an urethane modified epoxy resin [D] from 100 weight portions of an epoxy resin and 5 to 60 weight portions of the same isocyanate group-terminated urethane prepolymer [B] as the above and causing the resin [D] to react with an acid of the same phosphorus compound as the above or its salt or ester. Such an urethane modified epoxy resin can advantageously be used with an active organic hardening agent to produce an adhesive resin composition, which is highly effective for bonding iron and non-ferrous metals particularly in terms of shearing strength and peeling strength.

    摘要: Pigmented, abrasion and corrosion resistant, thermosetting organic solvent solution coating composition comprise: (A) from about 50 percent to about 85 percent of total resin solids of a triol-based blocked polyurethane polyisocyanate having a number average molecular weight in the range of 600 to 4000; (B) from about 15 percent to about 50 percent of total resin solids of an epoxy-phosphate provided by reacting a resinous polyepoxide with at least 0.05 mole of orthosphoric acid per equivalent of oxirane in the polyepoxide; and (C) a corrosion-inhibiting pigment, preferably a chromium-containing pigment, providing resistance to corrosion. These coatings may be applied to the metal surface to be protected, or the metal surface may be protected with another primer which is overcoated with the subject coatings. The subject coatings are then topcoated, especially with pigmented fluorocarbon coatings.
