摘要: The present invention provides methods and compositions for treating clay-bearing aggregates, particularly those used for construction purposes, whereby inclusion of fines is maximized due to minimization of clay washing which tends to remove such fines, and whereby performance of the aggregate-containing construction material is enhanced. Exemplary methods comprise introducing to clay a water-soluble, functionalized polyamine comprising a water-soluble polyamine formed by reacting an amine compound with an epoxy compound, the polyamine thus reacted being functionalized through the use of certain halide, sulfate, or epoxy compounds.

摘要: The present invention relates to subterranean drilling operations, and more particularly, to drilling fluids that may be used to drill a well bore in a subterranean formation that may demonstrate improved shale inhibition and methods of using such drilling fluids in subterranean formations. One embodiment of the methods of the present invention provides a method of drilling a well bore in a subterranean formation comprising providing a drilling fluid comprising an aqueous-based fluid and a shale inhibiting component comprising a nanoparticle source; and placing the drilling fluid in the well bore in the subterranean formation. Another embodiment of the present invention provides a method of flocculation comprising providing a fluid comprising suspended particles, and adding a shale inhibiting component comprising a nanoparticle source to the fluid comprising suspended particles to form flocculated particles.

摘要: An effective defoamer composition for water based drilling muds comprises a generally uniform, particulate mixture of from 1 to 50% by weight of an aliphatic alcohol having from 8 to 32 carbon atoms, and from 99 to 50% by weight of a solid carrier material which is generally non-swelling in aqueous media, which can be formed into particles having an average size of less than 150 micrometers, and which at least partially adsorbs said alcohol.

摘要: Les compositions ci-décrites sont utiles comme compositions de revêtement anti-corrosives, comme lubrifiants pour le travail des métaux et comme fluide de forage dans des opérations de forage dee puits. Lesdites compositions comprennent: (A) de l'eau ou une boue de forage aqueuse; (B) un système de dispersion colloïdal non Newtonien avec un excédent basique comprenant (B) (1) des particules colloïdales solides contenant du métal prédispersées dans (B) (2) un milieu de dispersion constitué d'au moins un liquide organique inerte et (B) (3) d'au moins un élément choisi dans la catégorie des composés organiques étant substantiellement solubles dans ledit milieu de dispersion, les molécules dudit composé organique étant caractérisées par des substituants polaires et des parties hydrophobes; et (C) un complexe de phosphate organique contenant du métal dérivé à partir de la réaction entre (C) (1) au moins un sel de métal polyvalent d'un ester de superphosphate ledit ester de superphosphate étant dérivé à partir de la réaction entre du pentoxyde phosphoreux ou de l'acide phosphorique et un mélange d'au moins un alcool monohydrique et d'au moins un alcool polyhydrique, et (C) (2) au moins un epoxyde organique. Lesdites compositions comprennent de préférence une quantité effective de (D) un alkali ou un sel de métal alcalino-terreux d'un acide organique, (E) un acide carboxylique et (F) un N-(hydrocarbyle substitué par hydroxyle) amine, afin d'améliorer la dispersion des composants (B) et (C) avec l'eau ou la boue de forage (A).

For example, a method may include providing an aqueous-based insulating fluid in an annulus between a riser column and an outer casing disposed thereabout, the riser column connecting a wellbore penetrating a subterranean formation to a floating surface rig; and flowing a fluid through the riser column and the wellbore.
