Disclosed is a bridge expansion joint for connecting upper plates of a bridge in such a way that it enables the upper plates of the bridge to stretch or to be contracted in order to counteract the contraction and expansion of the bridge according to the changes in temperature, which is capable of preventing the accumulation of foreign substances and of easily discharging them to the outside. A pair of lower plates is disposed between one bridge deck section and the other bridge deck section with leaving a predetermined interval. An upper plate is respectively disposed on an upper surface of the lower plate, in which the width of the upper plate in the horizontal direction is smaller than that of the lower plate. A load supporting means is disposed on the upper surface of the upper plate. The load supporting means comprises a pair of link members or a pair of finger members. A reinforced plate is disposed between the load supporting means and the lower plate, in which an inclined plane is respectively provided at both sides of the reinforced plate so that the reinforced plate has a narrow top and wide bottom-shaped section.

The invention relates to a fastening assembly in a road joint in an embodiment comprising a finger joint. When the finger plate (20) is fastened to the cage (30), which is embedded in concrete by means of link-plates (40), a screw and a washer are inserted into grooves provided in the cage (30), which grooves hold the screw head securely against rotation. Shear pins (25) are situated between the cage and the finger plate, said pins ensuring a defined transmission of forces and allowing small height adjustments. In addition, the screws can be held in the correct position by means of the shear pin (25), thus further simplifying assembly. The positioned finger plate (20) with the washers and nuts is securely connected to the cage (30) by means of the fastening fittings (10). In addition to a simple assembly, a simple replacement of the fastening fittings (10) and optionally the shear pin (25) during maintenance work is made possible.

The dowels com- prise a dowel plate (4) and a casing part (5). The dowel plate (4) and the cas- ing part (5) are attached to the concrete slabs on different sides of the joint. The casing part (5) prevents the dowel plate from adhering to the concrete slab and allows the dowel plate (4) to move inside the casing part and thus allows the movements of the slabs (1, 2) in the horizontal direction. The dowels (3) are installed alternately relative to the joint sothat the casing parts (5) of the adjacent dowels (3) are always installed on different sides of the joint.

Das nachträgliche Einbringen des Dichtmediums in die besagten Hohlräume kann insbesondere im Rahmen der Sanierung einer bestehenden Dehnfugen-Überbrückungsvorrichtung erfolgen.

A compression seal for concrete expansion joints is extruded as a one-piece unit from rubber-like material. The compression seal includes a compressible sealing portion and a pair of load-bearing wings that extend laterally from the compressible sealing portion. The one-piece design facilitates easy installation of the compression seal in an expansion joint. In use, the compressible sealing portion is inserted the expansion joint. Simple zipperlike motion may be used to press fit the compressible portion into the expansion joint. The lateral load-bearing wings are bonded to concrete surfaces adjoining the expansion joint to hold the compressible sealing portion in place.
