摘要： A balanced rotary cycling machine suitable for use as an internal combustion engine, compressed gas or steam engine, compressor or pump is disclosed herein. The rotor assembly consists of four articulating pistons where the opposite pistons are inter-linked with each other by pivoted rods comprising a parallelogram mechanism and therefore eliminating a need for pivots between pistons. The rotor assembly rotates inside or outside of a circular or non-circular stator depending on the configuration chosen. A variety of mechanisms for shape deformation of four piston assembly during its rotating cycle is also disclosed herein, as well as detailed descriptions of preferred embodiments.

摘要： A concentric rotary fluid machine includes a first body and a second body that are rotatable relative to each other and coaxially arranged one inside the other. A plurality of gates are supported by the second body in gate pockets. Each gate pocket includes: a gate retention recess that receives a gate cylinder of a gate; a gate seal recess that receives a sealing portion of a gate; and an intervening land. The sealing portion is configured to reciprocate up and down within a corresponding gate seal recess while maintaining contact with the recess and the second body. A plurality of lobes on the first body cause the gates to swing about respective swing axes as the first body rotates relative to the second body. The lobes and the lands are configured so that a lobe forms a substantial seal against a land when in mutual radial alignment.

An intake port, exhaust port, and ignition source are also provided. A method of combusting a fuel comprises rotating a drive member to expand a combustion chamber and substantially isolate the combustion chamber from an exhaust chamber, and introducing and combusting a combustion fluid and a fuel in the combustion chamber as the combustion chamber is expanding.

Upon ignition in the combustion chamber, the distal edge portion of each movable wall portion slides across the cylindrical surface of the adjacent movable wall portion as the movable wall portions pivot outwardly in unison about their respective pivot axes.
