In such a hydraulic machine the risk of leaking should be kept small. To this end said pressure area (17) deviates from a circular form.

A pump cylinder (18) is driven in reciprocation relative to a hollow piston (22) within the cylinder. The piston and cylinder each have valved inlet ports (33, 34; 43, 44) at each end. A tubular member (14) communicates with the hollow of the piston centrally between the piston ends and extends perpendicular to the piston, serving further as a stationary pivot for oscillation of the piston while the cylinder is driven in a swinging reciprocation relative to the piston. The tubular member extends through and works relative to a slot (19) formed through the cylinder wall so that reciprocation of the cylinder pumps a fluid along a flow path through the valved inlet ports and along said tubular member. The cylinder is driven at low speed by a motor (15) through a gear box (16) rigidly secured to a tubular frame (71) of the pump. A number of piston and cylinder devices may be driven by a common drive means, and employ a common tubular member, in a modular arrangement. The pump is simple, reliable and quiet, and is effective to provide small quantities of air at low pressure, e.g. for aeration at isolated effluent. treatment plants and at fish farms.

An adjusting device of a hydrostatic module which comprises at least one axial piston machine which can be adjusted in terms of the displacement volume thereof by means of the pivoting of a yoke (5), having a hydraulic adjusting cylinder which is arranged radially spaced apart from and tangentially with respect to the pivot axis of the yoke (5), which hydraulic adjusting cylinder has an adjusting piston which is operatively connected to the yoke (5) via a pivot lever and which can be acted on at two oppositely directed piston surfaces with an adjusting pressure difference of a hydraulic pressure medium, and having a control arrangement (1) which has a position regulating valve (z) in the form of an electromagnetically controllable hydraulic proportional valve, said position regulating valve having a control piston (3), by means of the axial adjustment of which the adjusting pressure difference acting on the adjusting piston of the adjusting cylinder can be set, and having a non-positively locking mechanical return device (4) by means of which the pivoting position of the yoke (5) can be transmitted to the control piston (3) of the position regulating valve (2). To obtain increased accuracy in the position regulation of the yoke (5), it is provided according to the invention that the position regulating valve (2) is arranged axially parallel to the adjusting cylinder and radially spaced apart from the pivot axis of the yoke, and that the return device comprises an axially movably guided sensing piston (6) and a feedback spring (7) in the form of a helical spring, said sensing piston and feedback spring being arranged coaxially with respect to and axially adjacent to the position regulating valve (2), wherein the sensing piston (6) bears against a feedback surface (8) arranged on the yoke eccentrically with respect to the pivot axis and is operatively connected via the feedback spring to the control piston of the position regulating valve.
