In a specific embodiment of the invention, the armature shaft (59) of an electric motor (51) rotates a worm gear segment (65) which then drives a helical gear (73) mounted in a gear housing (71). Via a series of pins, cams and gears, also mounted in the housing (71), this input can be made to drive selectively two or three intermittent rotary motion mechanisms (125, 107, 105) according to the rotary position of the helical gear (73). Mechanical devices which are coupled to the intermittent rotary motion mechanisms, e.g. a rear window wiper, a liftgate lock and a liftgate window release lock, are therefore operated according to the positional range of oscillation or movement of the helical gear (73). In this way, the number of electromagnetic devices, or motors, required to be fitted to a vehicle liftgate is reduced.

The invention relates to a step-by-step gearing mechanism, in particular for indexing a turret (12) on a machine tool, and having two cam plates (40, 40') which are each arranged about one axis (K, K') of rotation to be rotatably driven in the same direction and in relation to a roller carrier (30) in such a manner that circular holding regions (a, e) of both cam plates (40, 40') simultaneously rest on a roller (34) in each case to oppose each other, thereby preventing the roller carrier (30) from rotating. A projection (44, 44') of a cam plate (40, 40') subsequently rests on one roller (34) while another roller (34) dips into a cavity (c) of the other cam plate (40, 40') resulting in rotation of the roller carrier (30). The cam plates (40, 40') are adjacent each other and the projections (44, 44') thereof can be moved past each other to overlap with each other in such a manner that, to adapt to a change in said resting conditions, the holding regions (a, e) of both cam plates (40, 40') simultaneously rest on one and the same roller (34) to oppose each other, thereby in turn preventing rotation of the roller carrier (30). The projection (44, 44') of a cam plate (40, 40') subsequently rests on a roller (34), whereas the same roller (34) dips into the cavity (c) of the other cam plate (40', 40) resulting in the roller carrier (3) rotating again. Die Schaltscheibe(7) ist mittels eines steuerbaren Betätigungsgliedes(18) wenigstens in denjenigen Stellungen blockierbar, in denen das Verteilerrad(9) mit jeweils einem der Abgangsräder(10,11) kämmt. Each arm engages with the notches of the wheel 1 during at least a portion of the cyclic motion of same, by means of at least one tooth 7 of the arm, in such a way as to ensure mutual displacement. The bearings 3, 3' are arranged such that at least one of the arms engages with the mobile member, regardless of the rotational angle of the shaft 4. Said device can be used for producing low-clearance speed reducers.
