A dosing apparatus suitable for dispensing a dose of liquid from a resilient squeezable container, comprises: a cap 10, suitable for attachment to said container, said cap comprising an expulsion channel 41 for the expulsion of liquid; a dosage chamber 11 attached to said cap, said dosage chamber comprising side walls 12 extending from said cap, at least one inlet opening 13 in said side walls proximal to said cap; a pressure chamber 17 located underneath said dosage chamber; a valve 20 provided at the end of the pressure chamber distal to said dosage chamber; said valve being moveable from an open position, allowing liquid to flow through one or more discharge openings 22, and a closed position where the valve closes the or each discharge opening 22, said valve incorporating at least one aperture 21; and a plunger 16 provided in said dosage chamber, and moveable relative to said dosage chamber so as to advance upon squeezing of said container, up to a blocking position. An insert comprising a slit valve may be provided between the cap and dosage chamber. The insert may incorporate a skirt 29, fig. 6, which partially covers the inlet openings and which may be used to adjust the dose.

A dosing device is described, for dispensing doses of liquid from a container. It has an outlet passage with a front outlet tube (44) and a control chamber (2,29) positioned behind the front outlet tube. A flow path for dosed flow of liquid squeezed from the container leads in around the front of the control chamber (2,29) to the outlet tube (44), via flow openings (23). The control chamber (2) has control openings (28) to admit a restricted flow and time the fall of a blocking piston (3) to a blocking position where it blocks the outlet passage to terminate a dose. To improve uniformity of dosing, the outlet tube (44) has a tortuous flow-restricting formation (449) formed by a set of inward radial finger projections (49).

The invention concerns a tubular two-chamber liquid metering device (1) for leaktight insertion into a container opening (3). The metering device (1) comprises a cylindrical wall (5) with a closed base (6) and a cover (7) which is provided with a passage for a pouring duct (8). The wall (5) has at least one opening (14) in the region of the cover (7) and at least one further opening (13) is located on a peripheral line between the opening (14) and the base (6). Disposed in the outer cylindrical chamber defined by the wall (5), the base (6) and the cover (7) is a tubular body (10) which at one end is connected in a leaktight manner to the pouring duct (8) and at its other end maintains a distance from the base (6). The tubular body (10) has at least one opening (12) on a peripheral line in the region of the connection to the pouring duct (8). A freely movable body (11) with a circular cross-section is provided in the main metering chamber (19') defined by the inner cylinder (10) between the opening (12) and the base (6). The invention further concerns a method of metering liquids by means of a chamber metering device in which a free body is provided in the metering chamber in order to close a pouring duct. The volume of the free body is such that the free volume remaining in the metering chamber corresponds to the amount of liquid to be metered.
