The present application discloses novel azamacrocyclic lanthanide chelate design (Formula (I)) having substituted 4-(phenylethynyl)pyridine chromophores around an emitting lanthanide core, e.g. an europium(III) ion. The chromophores exhibit high molar absorptivity and luminescence with lanthanide ions. The application also discloses a detectable molecule comprising a biospecific binding reagent conjugated to the luminescent chelate, luminescent lanthanide chelating ligand as well as a solid support conjugated with the chelates and their use in various assays.

Provided are a fluorescent particle and a method for manufacturing the same. The fluorescent particle may include a gold nanoparticle; a silica shell covering the gold nanoparticle; and lanthanide group complex particles dispersed in the silica shell. Each of the lanthanide group complex particles may include a lanthanide group ion; a ligand bonded to the lanthanide group ion and including phosphorus; and a ligand bonded to the lanthanide group ion and having a beta diketone functional group. The fluorescent particle is observable with the naked eye and may emit light when ultraviolet light is irradiated. The fluorescent particle may be used for detecting and analyzing biomaterial samples.

The invention relates to a process for reducing the fluorescence quenching caused by the measuring medium in a fluorescence assay, by introducing into said medium of rare earth metal cryptates comprising at least one pyrdine radical which is substituted one or more times or unsubstituted. The invetion also relates to novel rare metal cryptates which are not very sensitive to the fluorescence quenching caused by the measuring medium.
