摘要: The present invention provides a method and device of quantitatively or qualitatively examining and diagnosing chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) by: irradiating a sample derived from an examinee or other animal with light having a wavelength in a range of 400 nm to 2500 nm or a wavelength in part of the range; detecting reflected light, transmitted light, or transmitted and reflected light to obtain an absorption spectral data; and analyzing absorbance at all measurement wavelengths or at specific wavelengths in the absorption spectral data by using an analytical model prepared beforehand.

In particular, a polypeptide comprising the same or substantially the same amino acid sequence as the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO: 1, SEQ ID NO: 2 or SEQ ID NO: 3, its amide, or a salt thereof can be used as an agent for preventing/treating hypotension; an agent for preventing/treating obesity, hyperphagia, etc.; an agent for preventing/treating lethargy, time-zone change syndrome (jet lag), etc.; an agent for preventing/treating sterility, etc. A compound or its salt that promotes the activity of a polypeptide comprising the same or substantially the same amino acid sequence as the amino acid sequence represented by any of SEQ ID NOS: 7 to 12 and 37 to 42, its partial peptide, or a salt thereof is useful as an agent for preventing/treating, e.g., menopausal symptoms or hyperthyroidism. A compound or its salt that inhibits the activity of said polypeptide is useful as an agent for preventing/treating, e.g., sterility or hypothyroidism.

摘要: The present invention relates to a method for diagnosing CFS or a predisposition thereto in vitro which comprises determining the levels of CD25, CD69, NKp46 and CD57 biomarkers in CD56+CD16+ NK cells and comparing with a reference value wherein increased levels of said markers is indicative the subject suffers or is predisposed to suffering CFS. Likewise the invention relates to a kit comprising reagents for assaying the levels of CD25, CD69, NKp46 and CD57 in CD56+CD16+ NK cells and to the use of said kit for the diagnosis of CFS or of a predisposition thereto. In addition, the invention relates to a reagent for inhibiting the expression or activity of at least one biomarker selected from the group consisting of CD69, NKp46 and CD5 or to a reagent for inducing the expression or activity of at least one biomarker selected from CD25, CD57, CD56 and Ki67 for use in the treatment or prevention of CFS in a subject in need thereof. Finally the invention relates to a kit comprising a reagent for inhibiting or inducing a biomarker of the invention and to the use of said kit for the treatment or prevention of CFS.

摘要: The onset of or the existence of overtraining syndrome in an individual is detected by a method which comprises a) contacting leucocytes in, or obtained from, a blood sample provided by the individual with a luminescence reagent which emits light on reaction with an oxidant; b) adding an activator to the mixture of leucocytes and the luminescence reagent; c) continuously monitoring and/or measuring light emitted by the luminescence reagent over a predetermined time period commencing before and ending after the addition of the activator; and d) assessing the light emission. The individual may be a human, for example an elite athlete, or a non- human mammal, for example a racehorse. A diagnostic kit, for carrying out the method, comprising a luminescence reagent which emits light on reaction with an oxidant, an activator and a library of standard signature light emission curves is also disclosed.

摘要: It is intended to provide a variety of useful polypeptides. Particularly, a polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence identical or substantially identical to the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO: 1, SEQ ID NO: 2, or SEQ ID NO: 3, an amide form thereof or a salt thereof can be used as a preventive/therapeutic agent for low blood pressure, a preventive/therapeutic agent for obesity, hyperphagia or the like, a preventive/therapeutic agent for lethargy, time-zone change syndrome (jet lag) or the like, a preventive/therapeutic agent for infertility and the like. A compound that promotes the activity of a polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence identical or substantially identical to the amino acid sequence represented by any of SEQ ID NOS: 7 to 12 and 37 to 42, a partial peptide of the polypeptide or a salt of the polypeptide, or a salt of the compound is useful as a preventive/therapeutic agent for, for example, climacteric disorder or hyperthyroidism. A compound that inhibits the activity of the polypeptide or a salt of the compound is useful, for example, as a preventive/therapeutic agent for infertility or thyroid insufficiency.
