An example method for monitoring different data storage devices across a network includes receiving data storage access requests made to different data storage devices across a network. A subset of the access requests to a taxon of a taxonomy of access request characteristics. For the taxon, a taxon threshold is determined for a parameter based upon the subset of access requests. The parameter of a sample of observed access requests, made to a data storage device and belonging to the taxon, is compared to the taxon threshold. A notification regarding the data storage device is made based upon the comparison.

Data from an application is analyzed periodically in real-time using a predictive data model to predict potential application failures. Application logs are used to build the predictive data model. The predictive data model includes features created from the application logs which are good predictors of application failures. The predictive data model analyzes and provides anomaly scores for various anomalies for the real-time data collected over a time period. The anomaly scores are compared with a threshold score to predict the probability of occurrences of application failures. If there is a higher probability of occurrence of an incident of application failure, corrective actions to mitigate or reduce the probability of occurrence of the application failure are implemented.

Evaluating user experience for an application includes collecting, for each of a plurality of user sessions, a list of user event data items experienced from a perspective of a user device during that user session. For each user session, a session score is discerned based on an analysis of that user session's list of user event data items. Each session score is associated with a corresponding one of the plurality of users. For each of a plurality of successive time periods, user scores are discerned for each of the plurality of users. Each user score is discerned as a function of all session scores associated with that user where those session scores are for user sessions occurring during that time period. For each of the successive time periods, a period score is discerned as a function of the user scores discerned for that time period. The time period score discerned for a selected one of the successive time periods can be reported.

Various embodiments provide an add-on advisor that is designed to assist users in managing add-ons for a browser and/or other application programs. In at least some embodiments, the add-on advisor can be implemented to detect newly installed add-ons and provide notifications to a user of the detected add-ons. The notifications regarding new add-ons can be configured with options to permit the user to enable or disable the add-ons. Add-ons that are not explicitly enabled by a user can be prevented from operating by the add-on advisor. Further, in at least some embodiments, the add-on advisor can be implemented to monitor performance impact of add-ons and provide notifications to a user when add-ons adversely affect performance. The user can then interact with the add-on advisor to improve performance by selectively enabling and disabling add-ons.

A dataset is replicated from a first storage subsystem to a second storage subsystem. The first and second storage subsystems also phone home log data to the cloud on a periodic basis. In response to detecting a failure of the first storage subsystem to phone home, the cloud generates and sends an alert to the second storage subsystem. In response to receiving this alert, the second storage subsystem starts disaster recovery operations for the dataset.

In an embodiment system, the system starts processing of a task to backup or recover data between the production data storage and the backup data storage. The system measures a latency to access the production data storage. The system then determines whether the latency is above a throttling threshold. When the system determines that the latency exceeds the throttling threshold, the system calculates a throttling value, determines an amount of the delay based on the calculated throttling value, and delays, by the determined amount, the processing of the next data block.
