Abstract: A display device (100) includes a substrate (301), a bottom shield metal layer (380), a driving transistor (D-Tr), and an organic light emitting diode (OLED). The bottom shield metal layer (380) is on the substrate and is coupled to a voltage source (VBSM) . The driving transistor is above the bottom shield metal layer. The driving transistor includes a source terminal and a drain terminal. A first one of the terminals of the driving transistor is coupled to a reference voltage (Vref) for setting a voltage value at the first terminal. The coupling of the bottom shield metal layer to the voltage source is independent of the coupling of the first terminal to the reference voltage. The OLED includes a first electrode that is coupled to the first terminal of the driving transistor.

Abstract: An organic light-emitting display device includes a plurality of pixels (PX), each of which includes an organic light-emitting device (OLED) including a pixel electrode (310), an organic emission layer (320), and an opposing electrode (330); a pixel defining layer (150) covering an edge of the pixel electrode (310) and being configured to define a light-emission region by having an opening (150h) which exposes a portion of the pixel electrode (310); and a reference line (26) overlapping the pixel electrode (310) with an insulating layer (140) between the reference line (26) and the pixel electrode (310) and extending in a first direction. The reference line (26) overlaps with a center point (CP) of the opening (150h), and the opening (150h) is shifted to one side of the pixel electrode (310) in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction, so that a first distance (L1) between respective edge points of the pixel electrode (310) and the opening (150h) that meet a virtual reference line (VL) on the left side of the center point (CP), is different from a second distance (L2) between respective edge points of the pixel electrode (310) and the opening (150h) that meet the virtual reference line (VL) on the right side of the center point (CP), wherein the virtual reference line (VL) extends in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction.

Abstract: An organic light-emitting display device comprises plurality of pixels. A first pixel (201a) is initialized in response to a first gate signal (GL1) of the gate signals, receives a first data signal (Vdata) input thereto in response to a second gate signal (GL2)) generated after the first gate signal, and is controlled by the emission control signal (EML1)) to emit light in response to the first data signal. A second pixel (201b) of the plurality of pixels is initialized in response to the second gate signal (GL2), receives a second data signal input (Vdata) thereto in response to a third gate signal (GL3) generated after the second gate signal, and is controlled by the emission control signal to emit light in response to the second data signal. The size of a non-display area is reduced.

Abstract: A system and method for operating a display at a constant luminance even as some of the pixels in the display are degraded over time. Each pixel in the display is configured to emit light when a voltage is supplied to the pixel's driving circuit, which causes a current to flow through a light emitting element. Degraded pixels are compensated by supplying their respective driving circuits with greater voltages. The display data is scaled by a compression factor less than one to reserve some voltage levels for compensating degraded pixels. As pixels become more degraded, and require additional compensation, the compression factor is decreased to reserve additional voltage levels for use in compensation.

Abstract: An electroluminescent display device and a method of driving the same are disclosed. The electroluminescent display includes a display panel including a plurality of pixels electrically connected to a plurality of data lines and a plurality of gate lines. Each pixel includes a driving element adjusting a current of a light emitting element to a gate-to-source voltage, and a switching element supplying a second voltage to the driving element in response to a gate-on voltage of an emission control signal. The switching element is turned off in response to a gate-off voltage of the emission control signal for a previously set real-time compensation time. A source voltage of the driving element is changed for the real-time compensation time.

Abstract: A high efficiency, long life, video rate, electrophoretic display comprises fluid containing sub-pixel structures that are periodic, and aligned with a color filter array. A fluid comprising of electrophoretically mobile particles is compartmentalized at the size scale of the individual filters (one per filter) such that the particles may be moved to either allow light to be returned through the same filter back towards the viewer by total internal reflection (TIR) or conventional reflection to create a light state or to be absorbed by the particles to create a dark state. High reflectance is achieved through the use of structures that avoid ITO layers in the light path and reflecting most light, by virtue of a dual control of light by TIR and transmission to a reflector. In one embodiment the structures are in the shape of truncated pyramids.

At least one of the driving TFT and the switching TFT is formed as a double-gate TFT having a first gate node and a second gate node, and each subpixel comprises a compensation circuit that senses the threshold voltage of the double-gate TFT and applies the same to the first gate node or second gate node of the double-gate TFT.
