Abstract:
A circuit is provided which, when connected in series with a service, allows that service to be powered or unpowered depending on whether the power supply is continuous or it is temporarily interrupted. That is, by switching ON or switching ON-OFF-ON the service will be powered or unpowered. For instance in a house or hotel bathroom, the circuit can be used to select whether a fan operates when the lights are on. This can be achieved by connecting the lights directly to the single make-or-brake switch and connecting a fan in parallel through the circuit. Then switching ON or ON-OFF-ON would select whether or not the fan operates when the lights are on. The second example relates to a bedroom or hotel room. The circuit could be used so that if the lights are switched ON, blue lights come on and some seconds later, white lights also come on. If the switch is cycled OFF-ON before the white lights come on, the blue lights come on again but the white lights remain off.
Abstract:
A hearing system is described comprising a hearing device with a signal processing unit and at least one analogue control element (5) with a selector (6) with a delimited selecting range for selecting at least one particular setting of the hearing system. Each setting controls one or multiple parameters of the hearing device (1), and the analogue control element (5) is operatively connected to the signal processing unit. Furthermore, the selecting range of the analogue control element (5) is partitioned into discrete segments, each identified by a distinctive identification digit, and at least two successive segments define a section (Pos 1, . . . , Pos 4), each section is identified by a distinctive section digit; wherein each section (Pos 1, . . . , Pos 4) represents a particular setting of the hearing system. Furthermore a non volatile memory (NVM) unit section is provided storing the identification digit and the respective section digit according to the position of the selector (6), said storing being controlled by the signal processing unit and the signal processing unit is only modifying the stored identification digit and the section digit in the non volatile memory (NVM) unit section when the position of the selector (6) is moved over at least two successive segments of the selecting range.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a safety switching apparatus (10) and to a method for safely turning on and off an electric consumer (22), in particular a system (16) operating in an automated manner. The apparatus (10) comprises a first port (32) for a first signalling element (18), a second port (34) for a second signalling element (20), and a first switching device (40) which is coupled to a first switching trip (36), and a second switching device (42) which is coupled to a second switching trip (38). A time-monitoring device (60) activates the first and second switching trips (36, 38) only when there is less than a predetermined maximum time duration (Tmax) between an actuation of the signalling elements (18, 20). The activation of the switching trips (36, 38) in turn causes the switching devices (40, 42) to be switched on, and hence the consumer (22) to be turned on. The activation of the switching trips (36, 38) requires the switching-on of first and second switching elements (48, 52) which are each arranged in series with the switching trips (36, 38). In one aspect of the invention, the time monitoring involves providing at least a first microcontroller (56) which is designed to detect actuations of the signalling elements (18, 20) and to switch on the switching elements (48, 52) if there is less than the maximum time duration (Tmax).
Abstract:
Systems and methods for interfacing with playback of media by a media player are provided. By combining the functionality of fast forward and skip forward into a single button control, the invention reduces the numbers of control buttons that need be included on a device, reducing device costs and consumer "button overload." In one embodiment, by pressing (and releasing) a forward button, media being rendered by a media player skips to a predetermined location in the media. By pressing and holding (and then releasing) the forward button, the media being rendered is fast forwarded according to algorithms for fast forwarding. A backward button covers skipping backward and fast reversing in a similar fashion. A device including a play/pause button and the described forward and backward buttons advantageously reduces the number of buttons required by two buttons.
Abstract:
The invention relates to two switching devices and a process for external force-actuated driving devices in a motor vehicle, especially windows and sliding roofs. According to the invention, depending on the dynamics and/or degree of displacement of an actuating component (1, 101, 201, 301, 401, 501), control signals are generated which code the displacement speed and travel, the position, the displacement duration and/or direction of the item to be displaced. The actuating component is in particular an unrestrictedly rotatable component (1, 101, 201, 501) which, during its rotation, generates control signals for an electronic control unit (4, 104). The invention provides two switching devices and a process giving the user the greatest possible control over the displacement of the component concerned.
