    摘要: A method and system is described to improve the reproduction of sound of an acoustic musical instrument (10). According to one embodiment, a first microphone (11) is placed at a proximate location to the musical instrument (10) to pick up the sound of the musical instrument (10). The sound as picked up by the first microphone (11) is compared to a reference sound of the instrument (e.g., the sound of the instrument as perceived at a normal listening position). Based on this comparison, a tailor-made equalizer (13) is designed to compensate for the differences between the sounds as picked up by the first microphone (11) and the reference sounds of the musical instrument (10).

    摘要: The hearing instrument comprises a circuit (12) for transforming an audio signal (11) into an output signal (13), which circuit (12) comprises filter means (18) for dividing the audio signal (11) into at least two frequency band signals and amplifier means (20, 22) for amplifying the frequency band signals. The circuit (12) further comprises control means (24) for the generation of at least first (21) and second (23) control signals which control the amplification of the frequency band signals and means (26) for including the amplified frequency band signals into the output signal (13). The control means (24) are embodied so as to increase a level of the first control signal (21) while simultaneously decreasing the level of the second control signal (23), or vice versa. The control means (24) may comprise a single control element (38), e.g. a variable resistor. In this way, the hearing instrument can easily be configured as a BILL or as a TILL or as a substantially linear hearing instrument.

    摘要: A telecommunications network (120) is provided with adaptive gain control (AGC) of the voice signals in network (120). Network (120) includes an input (12) for receiving a voice signal, an output (14) for receiving the voice signal, and a coupling between input (12) and output (14) including at least one switch (124) or (126). Network (120) also includes voice enhancer (10) including power averager (18) for measuring and determining the average power of an input signal. Voice enhancer (10) also includes bass band equalizer (16) to attenuate a predetermined portion of the input signal to provide an equalized input signal. From the average power of the input signal is determined a scaling factor from a gain/attenuation look-up table (28). Voice enhancer (10) also includes output scaler (30) coupled to output (14), output scaler (30) scales the equalized input signal with the scaling factor and provides the scaled signal to output (14). Voice enhancer (10) also includes bass to treble power comparator (20) for detecting tandem enhancement and voice-band data detector (22) which causes enhancer (10) to be disabled appropriately.
